Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha makes extraordinary claim: There is a RAT in my dressing room

The Light Blues won 2-1 at McDiarmid Park on the final day of last season, but Caixinha was left livid after being convinced that Saints boss Tommy Wright knew the visitors’ XI in advance.

The teams face each other again in tomorrow night’s Premiership clash in Perth.

When asked what he expected from the hosts, Caixinha replied: “First of all I expect them not to train after we train tomorrow.

“Why am I telling you that? Because I know last season, in the last match, we trained at 10 o’clock and they trained at 12 o’clock, knowing already our first XI.

“You know why? Because of the leaks.”

Caixinha is adamant Kenny Miller remains part of his plans after being banished to the under-20 squad amid rumours he had leaked details of a heated team meeting to the media following Celtic’s 2-0 win at Ibrox.

The striker was sent to play against Brentford’s reserve team after being dropped for the 4-1 win at Hamilton, although he was involved in a training-ground win against Morton last weekend.

Miller is back with the first team and could play tomorrow night, although he has a minor fitness concern.

Caixinha said: “There are no problems at all. Period. Kenny is one of ours.

“He felt something in today’s session, but I don’t think it is going to be anything major. He is a top professional. I have nothing to say about Kenny. He gives his maximum all the time here. Who gave him the contract? I gave him the contract, so that means I have trust and confidence in him.”

Saints striker Steven MacLean accused Caixinha of trying to wind up his team by comparing their formation and style with Championship club Morton.

Caixinha responded: “It is true or not true Morton play 4-4-2? It is true or not true St Johnstone play 4-4-2? So we have one common point, right.

“It is true or not true they look for the strikers up in front, that they play more long balls and second waves and set-pieces and crosses? So we have two common points.

“I never referred to level. I said the formation and the style of play is the same, so it fits for us in the preparation.”
