In a recent interview, Davidson, 31, disclosed that he has already spent approximately $200,000 on tattoo removal, and the process is only about 30% complete. The former SNL star decided to undergo the process for both personal and professional reasons.

ā€œIt’s a rather awkward sum to reveal, but I believe one of the tabloids already exposed it,ā€ Davidson stated. ā€œI’ve already shelled out around $200K, and I’m only about 30% through. So, it’s going to be a commitment”.

The Financial and Time Costs of Tattoo Removal

Aside from the considerable expense, the procedure also necessitates downtime for recovery – a factor that Davidson must carefully incorporate into his schedule. ā€œWell, I have to arrange it around my work commitments because each removal demands a six-week period for healing,ā€ he explained. ā€œEach tattoo needs approximately 10 to 12 sessions. A Transformation: From Ink-Covered to Fresh Start

The decision to have his tattoos removed surprised many, as the Pete Davidson was widely known for his extensive body art, which covered a significant portion of his physique. Davidson admitted that he initiated this process back in 2020 and anticipates it will take another decade to finalize.

ā€œMy arms are essentially clear, along with my hands and neck,” Davidson shared. “I still have to have work done on my midsection and back. This was due to the fact that I wasn’t prioritizing myself. I struggled with drugs and dealt with sadness, and I didn’t feel good. I felt compelled to stay covered up.ā€

ā€œI don’t think tattoos are inherently wrong, but when I looked at mine, I associated them with a time when I was sad and lost,ā€ the tattoo removal advocate stated. “So, I’m just removing them and starting fresh, because that’s what I think works best for me and for my brain. When I look in the mirror, I don’t want the reminder of, ā€˜Oh yeah, you were a drug addict. Like, that’s why you have SpongeBob smoking a joint on your back.’ They should have meaning and not just be reminiscent that I was high watching ā€˜Game of Thrones.’”

Career Considerations

In May 2021, Davidson revealed another motivation for the tattoo removal process—his acting ambitions. During an interview, Davidson mentioned, ā€œI honestly never thought that I would get the opportunity to act and I love it a lot. You have to get there three hours earlier to cover all your tattoos, because for some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them that much.ā€
