A 51-year-old business leader and father has died after the Lamborghini he recently acquired crashed into a canal in Italy. Luca Polito, 51, of Concordia Sagittaria, in northern Italy, lost control of the high-speed automobile while driving through his hometown.
Fatal Lamborghini Accident Claims Life of Italian Businessman
The sports car overturned and plunged into the adjacent irrigation canal, rapidly filling with water and sediment. Polito and his companion, a friend, were trapped inside the submerged vehicle, which was sitting in approximately 11 inches of water. Bystanders alerted emergency personnel.
Rescue Efforts and Aftermath
- Rescuers managed to extract Polito’s passenger, who was promptly transported to a local medical facility, suffering significant, but not life-threatening, injuries.
- Polito, however, showed no signs of life upon being freed from the wreckage. Paramedics declared him dead at the location.
Community Mourns Loss of “Special” Individual
According to local media reports, the proprietors of Polito’s favored restaurant in Concordia Sagittaria characterized the entrepreneur and father as a particularly generous presence in the community.
They stated: “He was an extraordinary individual – benevolent, considerate. He invariably offered assistance when needed.”
Concordia Sagittaria Mayor Claudio Odorico emphasized that the demise of the magnate represents a ‘substantial setback’ for Concordia Sagittaria.

Investigation Underway Following Lamborghini Crash
The white Lamborghini Gallardo, a supercar capable of speeds up to 200 mph and with a typical secondhand market worth near £90,000, was retrieved from the waterway several days after the incident.
Detectives are currently investigating whether the accident stemmed from a mechanical failure or driver mistake that resulted in Polito losing control of the vehicle.
Family Bereaved by Tragic Accident
Polito is survived by his parents, and was the last of his siblings alive, having previously lost his two brothers to severe illnesses. The commercial titan is also survived by his wife and their child.
