A climate demonstrator was apprehended after using bright green spray paint to write “USA” over a presidential emblem inside Trump Tower on Wednesday afternoon, according to law enforcement officials and video evidence from the location. This act of vandalism is the latest in a series of demonstrations by climate activists raising awareness to climate issues in New York City.
Details of the Trump Tower Protest
The individual sprayed the vivid green paint onto the plaque within the Midtown building before kneeling in front of it with closed eyes, as shown in footage shared on X.
Shortly after, a small group of onlookers gathered, with some taking photos. A security guard approached, and the protester revealed a small banner displaying the words “GAME OVER” along with the symbol of the climate activist group Extinction Rebellion.
Arrest and Statements
The individual was escorted away by officers in dark suits while proclaiming, “This is your country. This is our country. This is our planet. …You cannot ruin it without comment. They are ruining the planet for profit.”

This bold demonstration follows a similar incident the previous day, where the same activist group spray-painted the Wall Street Charging Bull before cleaning off the graffiti under the watch of police officers.

“It is Earth Day, and we are in a climate emergency!” one protester shouted during the performance before being escorted out amidst cheers and jeers. They also questioned, “Our country has become a Fascist regime, and we are enjoying this beauty?”
Previous Arrest
Law enforcement sources indicated that the Trump Tower protester had been previously arrested for criminal trespass at Columbia University.
