Disturbing Incident: Woman Gives Birth at Bangkok Street Festival, Abandons Newborn
In a shocking turn of events captured on CCTV, a woman attending the Songkran Festival in Bangkok reportedly gave birth in a car park and subsequently left her baby unattended to rejoin the festivities. The disturbing footage depicts the mother abandoning the infant shortly after delivery during the street festival, sparking outrage and a police investigation into the incident.
CCTV Captures Birth and Abandonment
Security camera footage has emerged showing the 27-year-old woman, identified by law enforcement as Piyathida, appearing distressed as she moved through a car park during the Songkran Festival celebrations in Bangkok. The video shows her actions which led to the discovery of the abandoned baby.
The grainy CCTV recording shows Piyathida seemingly in discomfort, staggering with her hands placed on her hips. She is then observed lowering her trousers and squatting near a parked vehicle, before leaving what authorities later discovered to be a newborn infant behind potted plants.
Following the birth, Piyathida is seen slowly walking away and returning to the Songkran Festival outside Rotsarin Village in Bangkok’s Don Mueang district. This occurred on April 14, according to reports.
Discovery and Tragically Short Life of the Infant
Later in the six-minute video segment, a group of passersby can be seen noticing something amiss in the area and investigating. They subsequently discovered the newborn infant in the location where Piyathida was seen squatting.

While the infant was found alive and immediate resuscitation efforts were undertaken, the baby tragically could not be saved and succumbed to the elements and lack of care.
Mother Rejoins Festivities, Bleeding and Unconcerned
Eyewitness accounts suggest Piyathida was seen participating in water splashing activities with acquaintances nearby, despite being visibly bleeding from her legs, a clear indication of recent childbirth.

Initial Denial and Subsequent Confession
Upon being confronted by authorities, Piyathida initially denied any involvement and claimed no knowledge of the infant. However, she later admitted to being the child’s mother and was promptly transported to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment related to childbirth.
Scene of Abandonment and Police Questioning
Local news outlets reported that the area where the baby was left showed signs of childbirth, with blood visible on nearby walls and plants, indicating the location of the distressing event.
During initial questioning by the police, Piyathida, who was reportedly intoxicated, disclosed that she had two other children and had been married and divorced twice. Her existing children are currently under the care of relatives of her former partners.
Authorities have been unable to conduct a full interrogation as Piyathida remains under medical supervision in the hospital due to significant blood loss following the delivery.
Police Identify Suspect and Vow Accountability
Superintendent Phuwadon Aoonpho of Don Mueang Police Station publicly identified the woman as 27-year-old Piyathida. He confirmed that formal questioning is pending her medical clearance from the hospital.
Superintendent Aoonpho reassured the public that Piyathida will be held legally responsible for her actions concerning the abandonment and death of her newborn child, as the investigation progresses.
Friend’s Account of Suspect’s Behavior
A 20-year-old friend of Piyathida, identified as Am, informed the media about her decision to end her friendship with Piyathida, citing the latter’s alleged cruelty as the reason for severing ties.
Am stated that she had noticed Piyathida’s pregnancy and questioned her about attending the strenuous Songkran festival in her condition. However, local media reported that Piyathida dismissed these concerns, attributing her physical changes to simple weight gain rather than pregnancy.
