Surgeon Claims Life Continues After Death, Citing Near-Death Experiences

A surgeon has made a startling assertion: life doesn’t cease at death. This claim stems from years of interaction with individuals who have undergone near-death experiences (NDEs). According to the surgeon, Manuel Sans Segarra, these extraordinary events cannot be simply dismissed as mere hallucinations or explained away by conventional scientific understanding. His insights challenge traditional views on life after death.

Challenging Medical Norms

Segarra contends that the phenomena he has observed directly contradict established medical principles. He asserts that there are numerous documented cases worldwide that support the continuation of consciousness beyond physical demise.

The 81-year-old, formerly the esteemed head of surgery at Bellvitge Hospital in Barcelona, shared his perspective with the Spanish newspaper El Periodico following extensive research. He stated that public opinion holds little sway over his convictions, as his studies have alleviated his personal apprehension of death.

The surgeon, renowned for introducing minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery in Spain, presents his arguments in his newly published book, scrutinizing testimonies from patients who purportedly returned to life after being declared clinically dead.

The Spark of Curiosity: A Doctor’s Inquiry into NDEs

Segarra’s fascination with the subject ignited after an incident in the emergency room involving a patient revived after clinical death. He recounted to El Periodico: “Upon regaining consciousness, he described occurrences during his period of no brain activity, which defies medical laws.

“Another patient related a similar experience. Post-revival, she depicted traveling through the hospital, detailing her observations. After verifying her account through computer records and colleague consultations, her narrative aligned with actual events.”

Intrigued, he initiated research into experiences described asnear-death experiences (NDEs). The surgeon, who maintains a substantial online presence with two million followers across TikTok and Instagram, discovered numerous studies published by reputable doctors in academic journals, documenting thousands of similar cases globally.

Common Threads in Near-Death Narratives

The consistent themes within these patients’ accounts proved compelling. Their experiences often mirror reports from individuals claiming to have glimpsed the afterlife.

Key elements reported include:

  • A sensation of detaching from their physical body, observing the scene from an elevated perspective.
  • Communication with entities referred to as “beings of light,” who provide assistance and direction.
  • Encounters with deceased relatives.

Dr. Segarra states one patient tearfully recounted a conversation and embrace with her deceased mother. He also mentions that patients often describe a rapid life review, as well as a profound sense of peace induced by a radiant light.

Despite the allure of this experience, individuals commonly return to life, citing two primary motivations.

Segarra expounds: “Some are instructed by the beings of light to return and fulfill their life’s purpose. Others are compelled to return by the startling revelations of their life review, where they identify past actions requiring rectification, often involving harm inflicted upon others.”

Hallucination or Something More?

Initially, Segarra attributed these experiences to neural activity. However, discussions with psychiatrists and psychologists revealed discrepancies between NDEs and descriptions of hallucinations.

He emphasized that NDEs follow a consistent narrative structure, unlike the disjointed nature of hallucinations. Furthermore, while individuals typically seek to suppress memories of hallucinations, near death experiences are vividly recalled and transformative.

He concludes: “Clinically, NDEs and hallucinations share no commonalities.”

Consequently, Segarra believes that “traditional medical science cannot account for this phenomenon.”

Transcending the Physical: A Doctor’s Perspective on Existence

Based on his research, Dr. Segarra has adopted a perspective that some may find unconventional for a medical professional. He posits: “Upon death, we merely discard our physical form, a vessel composed of stardust originating from the Big Bang. No atom is lost. However, our existence, in a spiritual form, persists, and at death, we merge with the superconsciousness to which we belong. Death is not the ultimate end; our existence continues.”

He continues: “Our true reality transcends the physical and endures beyond death. I neither speculate on the afterlife nor delve into religious beliefs. I simply convey the accounts of those who have approached death’s threshold and returned, and I endeavor to provide a scientific explanation.”

His findings have eradicated his apprehension of death. He concludes: “For me, death signifies the prelude to an improved existence.”

The book, ‘Supra consciousness exists: Life after life’, is available now. Visit the surgeon’s website for more details.
