Escape to the Country host Jules Hudson navigates tough sell with house hunters

Importance Score: 4 / 100 🟠

During a recent instalment of the popular property programme Escape to the Country, presenter Jules Hudson faced a significant hurdle as a prospective home buyer found it difficult to conceal her dissatisfaction. The episode focused on a property search for a client seeking to relocate to South West Wales, featuring various potential homes, including properties in areas like Pembrokeshire.

Buyer’s Journey on Escape to the Country

Jules Hudson returned to screens to assist mother-daughter duo Ellen and Val in their quest for a new abode. Ellen, planning a move to South West Wales with her family, had Val accompany her for support during the demanding home hunt.

Promising Beginning to the Property Hunt

The initial stages of their search got off to a promising start. The second property they viewed proved to be a significant success. Ellen described the transformed barn as “absolutely amazing,” and it was evident that both she and Val were captivated by its appeal.

Disappointment with the Mystery House

Conversely, when it came to the surprise house – a property often intended to broaden buyers’ perspectives or offer an unexpected angle – Ellen and Val remained unimpressed.

Inspecting the four-bedroom residence in Pembrokeshire, which boasted an ample kitchen and scenic outlooks, they quickly dismissed its suitability, according to reports.

Ellen acknowledged to Jules that the dwelling was “lovely” but couldn’t help drawing comparisons to the second property. Recognising the challenge before him, Jules observed to viewers that he had a “challenge” on his hands.

Reflecting on the Options

Later, reflecting on their experience, Ellen confessed:

I can’t see myself and my family living here.

She further explained:

It doesn’t have the open plan space or the garden views we were looking for. Although the views are spectacular, the house just wouldn’t work for us.

Favourite Emerges and Next Steps

Throughout the program, host Jules was eager to determine if any of the featured properties could potentially be the ideal long-term residence for Ellen’s family.

Ellen conveyed her excitement, stating:

House number two I absolutely loved.

Turning to her mother, she added:

You seemed to love it as well. It seemed to have everything we are looking for.

She then disclosed:

I’ve already arranged for a second viewing.

Slightly surprised by her swift action, Jules remarked:

Have you? She doesn’t hang about does she?

Ellen also shared her husband James’s opinion, mentioning that he would find the second property “really appealing” due to its generous size and the extensive amount of land included.

Escape to the Country is broadcast weekdays at 3pm on BBC One.
