Importance Score: 22 / 100 🔵
Anticipation builds for the imminent release of Days Gone Remastered on PlayStation 5, and we are thrilled to detail the expanded range of accessibility features incorporated into this enhanced edition. Building upon the foundation established in the original 2019 Days Gone, our development team prioritized evolving and refining accessibility options. This commitment aims to deliver a more inclusive and adaptable player experience when traversing the Broken Road starting April 25th. Let’s explore the enhancements!
Visual Accessibility Enhancements
Enhanced Subtitle Customization
Days Gone Remastered significantly expands subtitle customization. Players can now select from 11 distinct subtitle colors to suit individual preferences, applicable to both subtitle text and speaker names. This includes the option to assign separate colors for text and speaker identification. Beyond color, options for subtitle backgrounds have been broadened. The initial on/off toggle has been replaced with a spectrum of choices: default (transparent), darkened, light, and black backgrounds.
Fully Customizable High Contrast Mode
A major addition to Days Gone Remastered’s accessibility suite is the fully customizable High Contrast Mode. This feature complements the existing High Contrast HUD from the original release, designed to improve navigation and on-screen clarity. High Contrast Mode offers two pre-configured settings – Primary and Secondary – for quick application. Furthermore, players can personalize the mode by assigning colors to the hero character, friendly NPCs, enemies, and interactable elements. These color assignments draw from the same 11-color palette available for subtitle settings, ensuring consistent visual customization designed to enhance gameplay visibility.
Initial Setup and Real-Time Preview Panels
Subtitles, High Contrast Mode, and other frequently used settings are conveniently accessible from the new Initial Setup screen, presented upon the first launch of Days Gone Remastered. Additional adjustments can be made within the Accessibility tab, located in the Options menu. This section has been updated with real-time preview panels, allowing players to visualize chosen settings without needing to enter gameplay.
Audio Accessibility Options
Alongside a comprehensively revised and improved audio mix in Days Gone Remastered, two new audio accessibility features are introduced for the first time: UI Narration and Collectible Audio Cues.

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.
The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.
UI Narration for Menu Navigation
UI Narration activates audible descriptions for the user interface. This feature audibly relays key information to assist players in navigating on-screen elements. This includes menu options and in-game Touchpad options such as Inventory, Skills, and Storylines. UI Narration is enabled by default when Days Gone Remastered is launched for the first time, but it can be disabled via the Initial Setup screen.
Collectible Audio Cues for World Exploration
To aid in locating the 240 collectibles scattered throughout the expansive Pacific Northwest open world, Collectible Audio Cues have been added as an option. When activated, distinct sound notifications alert players to nearby collectibles, making them easier to locate during Story progression or open world activity completion. In addition to auditory cues, players will experience enhanced haptic feedback through the DualSense controller, with vibrations intensifying as they approach a collectible.
Gameplay Accessibility Features
Confronting hordes, traversing the landscape on the Drifter bike, and navigating ambush camps demand robust accessibility features to ensure players can enjoy the game at their own pace and preferred style. Days Gone Remastered delivers with Customized Controls, empowering players to personalize their gameplay experience by fully remapping DualSense controller inputs. This functionality is also fully compatible with the PlayStation Access controller.
Adjustable Game Speed for Custom Gameplay
Another key accessibility addition in Days Gone Remastered is Game Speed adjustment. This setting modifies the pace of gameplay, offering increments of 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%. Game Speed is particularly beneficial for players who may feel overwhelmed in intense situations or experience difficulty with complex inputs during high-pressure moments, such as battling Freaker hordes. Considering hordes are a central element of Days Gone gameplay, and with the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, this feature ensures this distinctive combat experience is more broadly accessible.
Additional Accessibility and Quality-of-Life Features
Further Enhancements
Further accessibility features in Days Gone Remastered include Recenter Camera on Attack, Haptic vibration intensity sliders, Field of View adjustment, and Persistent Center Dot. A quality-of-life improvement has also been implemented for the auto-complete QTE feature. Previously limited to Easy difficulty, this setting is now available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
Most of these new accessibility features will also be available in Days Gone on PC.*
