Delta Flight Evacuated at Orlando Airport Due to Engine Fire

A Delta Air Lines aircraft was evacuated at Orlando International Airport after an engine ignited while the plane was on the tarmac. Passengers of the Delta flight were swiftly removed from the plane following the engine fire incident. The aircraft, preparing for departure, experienced the malfunction prompting an emergency response.

Emergency Evacuation of Passengers

Social media footage captured plumes of smoke and flames emanating from the right engine of the aircraft. Passengers were observed disembarking the plane using inflatable evacuation slides. Delta Air Lines Flight 1213, destined for Atlanta, was carrying nearly 300 individuals at the time of the incident. Initial reports indicate no injuries were sustained during the evacuation.

Airport and Airline Response

Orlando International Airport authorities confirmed the incident via social media, stating: “Passengers were evacuated. Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting team promptly responded.”

Delta Air Lines, in a statement to CBS News, clarified that the Airbus A330 had 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots onboard. The airline explained that flight crews initiated the cabin evacuation upon observing flames originating from a section of one of the aircraft’s two primary engines.

Video purportedly filmed from inside the airport terminal showed passengers assembled on the tarmac, with emergency vehicles situated near the affected aircraft.
