Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen Pauses Interview to Check on Lando Norris’s Condition
Norris Endures Demanding Conditions in Jeddah Formula 1 Race
Following a physically taxing Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen momentarily halted a post-race interview to inquire about the well-being of Lando Norris. The British Formula 1 driver, representing McLaren, visibly showed signs of exertion after battling intensely in the challenging Jeddah race. Norris, who started from 10th on the grid, ultimately secured a fourth-place finish, navigating the race’s brutal conditions. The Saudi Arabian GP proved to be an arduous event for Norris, commencing with him trailing teammate Oscar Piastri in practice sessions and suffering a setback in qualifying, where a crash during his first Q3 attempt relegated him to a lower grid position.
Grueling Race Strategy in Intense Heat
In severely warm conditions during the race, Norris executed a strategy that involved extending his stint on hard compound tyres. This approach enabled him to progress through the field, culminating in a final push where he was setting lap times comparable to qualifying pace in an effort to close the gap to Charles Leclerc and George Russell ahead.
Verstappen’s Concern for Fellow Driver
In the media pen post-race, Norris displayed clear signs of fatigue. As he passed behind Verstappen while the Red Bull Racing driver was engaged in an interview with Nova Sport, Verstappen paused his conversation to ask, “You okay?”
Norris turned, acknowledging his fellow competitor with a thumbs-up gesture. Verstappen followed up, questioning, “All good?” Norris responded, “I’ve done better,” prompting Verstappen to add, “Physically!” A brief moment of shared laughter followed between the two drivers.
Norris Acknowledges Race Difficulty but Dismisses Physical Struggle
Despite appearing dehydrated and fatigued after exiting his car, Norris clarified that he did not experience significant physical struggles during the Grand Prix itself. “That was a tough one,” Norris admitted regarding the race. “This track is demanding, these temperatures are challenging, and it’s a flat-out race.”

Miami Grand Prix Focus and Championship Standings
Norris expressed his aspirations for a podium finish, stating, “It would have been nice to overtake Charles and secure a podium. I’d gladly drink all the champagne now, or even apple juice. I dream of that at the moment. However, I believe fourth was the best we could achieve today. We are clearly not significantly ahead of the competition.”
In a separate interview, the 25-year-old driver mentioned his plans for intensive training during the two-week interval before the Miami Grand Prix. Currently, in the Drivers’ Championship standings, Norris trails teammate Piastri by 10 points, with Piastri demonstrating strong performance, including three victories in the past four race events.
