Paul Sinha of The Chase Reveals Career-Jeopardizing Rule Break

In a recent episode of the popular ITV quiz show, The Chase, Paul Sinha, one of the formidable Chasers, disclosed a significant rule violation that could potentially lead to his dismissal from the program. During the Monday, April 21st broadcast, host Bradley Walsh welcomed four celebrity contestants to participate in the afternoon game show, testing their general knowledge for charitable causes.

Celebrity Contestants Take on The Sinnerman

This week’s edition of The Chase featured actress Julia Goulding, wine expert Oz Clarke, television presenter Laura Hamilton, and fitness guru Mr Motivator. These well-known personalities aimed to raise funds for their chosen charities by competing against Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha. Sinha, known for his encyclopedic knowledge, was in top form from the outset. Julia successfully navigated the initial round, contributing an impressive £8,000 to the potential prize.

Laura Hamilton’s Risky High Offer Encounter

Next to face Sinha was Oz Clarke, who added a further £5,000 to the prize fund after a tense head-to-head round. Following their success, A Place In The Sun host Laura Hamilton stepped up, but she found it more challenging to keep pace with her fellow contestants. The property expert accumulated a modest £3,000 in the cash builder round. Despite this, she opted to take on a high-risk offer against the quiz master, going head-to-head for a substantial £75,000.

Warning and a Pivotal Question

Despite Sinha cautioning her against selecting the considerable sum, Laura proceeded. The round began with challenges for the TV personality, as Sinha quickly narrowed the gap between them. Midway through the intense round, presenter Bradley Walsh posed the question: “In what Ryan Gosling film does Noah write a letter to Allie every day for a year? A) Crazy, Stupid, Love, B) La La Land, or C) The Notebook?”

The Rule Break Revelation

Laura correctly answered C) The Notebook, with Sinha, hot on her heels, also providing the correct answer. Facing mounting pressure, Laura jokingly pleaded with Sinha, “Can’t you just get one wrong?” To this, he directly responded: “No, I’d lose my job if I deliberately got one wrong.” Unfortunately, Laura succumbed to the pressure and was caught by The Chaser on the fourth question.

Charity Donation Despite Loss

Despite Laura’s elimination, Mr Motivator subsequently earned a notable £4,000 in his cash builder round, adding to the team’s collective prize, bringing their total to £17,000. In the final chase, the team answered 14 questions correctly within the two-minute timeframe. However, Sinha successfully caught the team with 38 seconds remaining on the clock. Although they missed out on the large cash prize, the three remaining contestants generously donated £1,000 each to their respective charities.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and is available for catch-up on ITVX.
