Details of the Subway Stabbing Incident
Lateef Green, age 50, was apprehended less than twelve hours after he allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old man multiple times in the arm and abdomen. The incident occurred on a southbound No. 2 train at the 219th Street station in Olinville at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Friday, according to police accounts.
Sources indicated that the violent confrontation erupted as Green was walking between train cars.

The injured victim was quickly transported to Jacobi Medical Center and was listed in stable condition. He received multiple stitches to close his wounds, as detailed in a criminal complaint.
Formal Charges and Bail Set
Green faces charges including assault, attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and harassment. During his arraignment on Saturday, prosecutors requested, and the court ordered, bail to be set at $300,000 cash or a $900,000 bond.

Green’s Prior Arrest Record and Parole Status
Authorities stated that Green has a documented history of 13 prior arrests. He was on parole for a prior hate crime assault that occurred in Harlem, according to official sources and public records.
Hate Crime Conviction
Green previously served nearly four years in prison for a hate-motivated assault in Manhattan in March 2016. In that incident, Green reportedly made a derogatory statement before physically attacking the victim, striking him in the face and kicking him on West 124th Street in Harlem, court documents revealed.
Resistance During Arrest in Prior Case
According to the complaint, Green resisted arrest during the prior incident, refusing to comply with officers’ commands to place his hands behind his back.
He was convicted of third-degree assault as a hate crime and resisting arrest in 2017 and received a sentence of 3 to 6 years in prison, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Prison records indicate he was incarcerated at the Mid-State Correctional Facility from May 2017 until his parole release in January 2021. His parole supervision is scheduled to conclude in October 2026.

A spokesperson for the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision informed news outlets that parole officers assisted in identifying Green as a suspect in the subway stabbing by reviewing photographs provided by the police.
Following Green’s arrest and charging, state corrections officials issued a warrant, and he was detained after a hearing on Saturday, the spokesperson added.
Green remains in custody pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday and a subsequent hearing on April 29 to determine potential parole revocation.
He is currently held at the Eric M. Taylor Center on Rikers Island and is expected to appear in court Thursday for matters related to the recent stabbing arrest.
Susan Light, Green’s Legal Aid attorney, did not respond immediately to requests for comment.
