Last year, the state began offering its own cost-effective generic version of Narcan at $24 per twin-pack. This direct-to-consumer program is a key component of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s broader strategy to challenge pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices. The CalRx label, under which the state offers these medications, aims to provide more affordable, competitive versions of essential drugs.
