Oti Mabuse Auctions ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Memorabilia for Charity

Former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star, Oti Mabuse, is parting ways with some of her iconic, sparkly costumes from the BBC dance competition. After a decade with the broadcaster, the celebrated dancer, age 34, who gained nationwide recognition when she joined ‘Strictly’ in 2015, is offering fans a chance to own a piece of television history. The initiative is part of an eBay campaign focused on decluttering and generating value from pre-owned items.

Glitterball Triumphs and New Beginnings

During her successful tenure on the popular program, Mabuse twice secured the coveted glitterball trophy. Her first victory was in 2019 with actor Kelvin Fletcher. The dancer then achieved another milestone the following year, partnering with comedian Bill Bailey and leading him to victory as the show’s oldest champion. In 2022, Mabuse transitioned from the dance floor to the judging panel, joining the rival show ‘Dancing on Ice’.

eBay Spring Cleaning Challenge

To mark her ten years since joining the BBC family, Mabuse is collaborating with eBay’s “List to £1k Spring Cleaning Challenge.” This initiative encourages individuals to unlock the potential value of unused items in their homes by selling them online. As part of this campaign, the admired television personality has decided to auction off select shoes and costumes from her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ years, with proceeds benefiting charitable organizations.

Costumes Find New Homes for Good Causes

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk previously, Mabuse shared her motivations for selling the cherished performance attire.

“I think it’s time,” she stated. “I’m not wearing them, and they were incredible and hold a special place in my heart. However, I know fans would truly appreciate them.”

vCard QR Code

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

She clarified, “It’s not everything, it’s a selection of shoes and costumes, but not the entire collection. Mostly shoes, as we accumulate numerous pairs. I am grateful for eBay’s support in providing a platform to offer these items, preventing them from being discarded.”

Donating to Charities

Mabuse confirmed that “The funds raised will be donated to charities I deeply care about. They are going to individuals who will cherish and appreciate them, perhaps even wear or display them.”

The broader campaign aims to motivate a significant majority – 80 percent – of people who acknowledge possessing unused items at home to generate income by selling them on eBay.

The Joy of Decluttering

Expressing her enthusiasm for the spring cleaning campaign, Mabuse commented, “I love to declutter. It brings me a sense of liberation, and for my mental well-being, it’s important that my home is a relaxing and personal space.”

“Partnering with eBay and supporting their spring cleaning initiative, by rehoming items I no longer use, knowing they will be valued and loved, contributes to my own spring cleaning and creating a refreshed living space, which I find very enjoyable.”
