Disneyland Paris Unveils Disney Adventure World in Major Park Overhaul

Disneyland Paris has provided eager enthusiasts with a first glimpse into the significant transformation taking place at one of its two theme parks. Walt Disney Studios is set to be rebranded as Disney Adventure World, introducing a host of new immersive zones and attractions inspired by popular animated films such as The Lion King, Frozen, and Up. This ambitious expansion aims to enhance the guest experience with cutting-edge entertainment and beloved stories.

Extensive Reimagining of Walt Disney Studios Park

The extensive renovation of Walt Disney Studios park will culminate in its renaming to Disney Adventure World. This comprehensive project will introduce several new themed areas and experiences, significantly altering the park’s landscape and offerings. The centrepiece will be a revitalized central lake, designed to host a spectacular nightly show.

New Immersive Worlds and Attractions

‘World of Frozen’ Set to Debut Next Year

The highly anticipated ‘World of Frozen’ is scheduled to open next year, inviting visitors to step into the enchanting Kingdom of Arendelle. Guests will have the opportunity to encounter beloved characters Anna, Elsa, and Olaf, immersing themselves in the film’s magical atmosphere. Disney has released images showcasing the near completion of the area’s North Mountain, a prominent landmark reaching 36 meters in height.

‘Up’-Themed Attraction: A Disney Parks First

Disney Adventure World will also feature a brand-new attraction inspired by the heartwarming Pixar film Up, marking a first for any Disney park globally. Visitors will board a unique flying carousel, simulating a bird’s-eye view of the park and replicating the sensation of soaring through the air, reminiscent of Carl and Russell’s adventures in the movie.

Construction for this innovative ride is slated to commence by the close of 2025, alongside the development of a nearby garden influenced by other animated classics, Tangled and Toy Story.

The forthcoming attraction will integrate a stunning water-based spectacle with advanced Audio-Animatronics® technology. This combination aims to transport guests into the heart of the Pride Lands, where they will join Simba in an unforgettable journey enriched with iconic musical numbers from the celebrated 1994 film.

Venturing into the depths of the caves beneath the imposing 37-meter-tall Pride Rock, guests will embark on a remarkable and emotionally resonant adventure. This experience will navigate through memorable scenes from the cherished animated film, incorporating three thrilling descents, including a significant 16-meter drop.

Vision for Disney Adventure World

Michel Den Dulk, Vice President and Portfolio Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering, commented on the development: ‘We eagerly anticipate commencing construction on this new immersive realm inspired by The Lion King and its flagship attraction, representing another significant milestone for Disney Adventure World.’

‘The primary attraction will epitomize the defining characteristics of Disney experiences: endearing characters, an unforgettable musical score, captivating scenery and effects, and exhilarating moments thoughtfully integrated throughout the adventure,’ he added.

Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris, stated: ‘The Imagineers involved in this project are deeply committed to delivering a vibrant tribute to this timeless masterpiece, crafting enduring memories for all our visitors.’

Reflecting on the park’s ongoing evolution, Rafalski further noted: ‘As our second park progresses in its transformation, we are proud to unveil the upcoming opening of World Premiere in the near future.’

‘As part of the 2-billion-euro investment initiative announced in 2018, we are continuing to reinvent this park with a renewed creative approach.’

‘Upon completion of its expansion phase – encompassing the introductions of Adventure Way, Adventure Bay, and World of Frozen by 2026, and subsequently an immersive Lion King themed world – we will have reimagined over 90% of the park’s offerings since its initial launch in 2002, and effectively doubled its overall size, establishing it as an unmissable destination!’
