Bill Maher Reaffirms Support for Donald Trump After White House Meeting
Political commentator Bill Maher has reiterated his favorable view of Donald Trump after dining with the former president at the White House. This comes despite generating disapproval from liberal circles.
Maher Discusses Trump Encounter on Podcast
Maher, 69, a longtime critic of Trump and well-known political figure, hosted Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, on his “Random Club Podcast.”
During the podcast episode, which was broadcast on Sunday, Maher unapologetically addressed his White House visit. This meeting, he stated, altered his perspective on the Republican president whom he had previously condemned.
Comedian Defends Positive Trump Impression
Maher stood by his assertions that Trump was ‘courteous and composed’ during their encounter. The comedian maintained he would not ‘pretend’ that the improved relations resulting from their White House meeting were negative.
‘I voted for Obama, I voted for Clinton,’ Maher emphatically began, as Kirk listened attentively.

‘But the notion that I could converse with them as openly as this discussion unfolded exemplifies, to me, why the Democrats are unsuccessful in elections.’
Trump’s Approachability Highlighted
Maher proceeded to characterize Trump as more accessible and a more ‘genuine individual’ compared to his Democratic counterparts.
‘I recognize it sounds peculiar to express this about Donald Trump, who I’ve numerous times called, you know, highly critical terms.’

President Donald Trump (pictured) was lauded by Maher for being approachable and easy to engage in conversation.
‘However, this was about moving beyond those prior notions and perhaps realizing that in a personal meeting, the animosity is less pronounced – and it is – and I apologize, but I won’t act as if that’s detrimental.’
Kid Rock Orchestrated White House Dinner
The meeting, which prompted unease among liberals, was arranged last month by musician Kid Rock.
Kid Rock stated his intention was for the two to meet to ‘foster greater civility in the nation and strive to unite individuals,’ as the rocker explained on Fox & Friends in late March.
Attendees at the dinner included Kid Rock, who had previously appeared in the Oval Office during Trump’s signing of an executive order regarding ticket scalping, President Trump, Maher, and UFC CEO Dana White.
Maher’s Positive Reflections on Trump
While reminiscing about the evening, Maher spoke favorably of Trump, notwithstanding their extensive history of disagreements.
‘He possesses greater insight than he reveals publicly,’ Maher commented on his HBO Max talk show “Real Time.”
‘Listen, I understand it’s inconsequential who he is at a private dinner with a comedian. His persona on the world stage is what truly matters.’
‘I am simply accepting it as a positive that this individual exists, because everything I’ve disliked about him was, I swear, absent – at least on that particular occasion.’
He also mentioned his comfort level in conversing with the president and how he could not envision having such an informal discussion with Democratic leaders he had supported in the past.

Liberal Criticism and Public Reaction
Since publicly sharing his assessment of Trump, Maher has been challenged by liberal critics who allege he has been swayed by conservative messaging.
Democratic strategist James Carville, for instance, labeled his ‘friend’ Maher as a ‘supremely unsophisticated man’ on his “Politics War Room” podcast.
Social media users have also expressed strong opinions regarding Maher’s apparent shift in perspective, with skepticism from some.
One X user commented on Maher’s Sunday podcast remarks: ‘This is merely the typical alteration of opinion when sensing waning influence. Maher is not unintelligent.
‘He perceives he’s losing his audience and needs to adopt a – “Trump isn’t so bad” viewpoint to maintain his prominence and income.’
Conversely, others voiced their support for Maher’s genuine response, despite its contradiction with his prior statements.
‘When Bill Maher is suggesting Trump appears more authentic than Democrats, it signals the true sentiments are emerging. It turns out genuineness surpasses identity politics consistently,’ one user posted on X.
