Cyberpunk Action Title Spine Unveils New Gameplay and Hardcore Mode

Initially revealed as a multiplayer title in 2021, Spine, developed by Nekki, has shifted direction after several years of development. The game has now emerged as a cinematic single-player experience, drawing significant inspiration from action blockbusters such as John Wick. Boasting free-flow gun-fu combat, Spine has garnered considerable attention from players, amassing over 400,000 wishlists according to the publisher. Nekki recently presented new gameplay footage of the cyberpunk action game, announced a challenging Hardcore mode, and confirmed its release on Nintendo Switch 2.

Intense Cinematic Combat

In Spine, players assume the role of Redline, a highly skilled protagonist capable of fluidly transitioning between enemies. Redline can parry attacks, disarm opponents, and defeat them using her weapons, through hand-to-hand engagements, or by utilizing enemy weaponry against them. She is also adept at employing environmental objects as improvised weapons and slamming adversaries into surfaces within the game world. The camera system is specifically tailored to immerse players in the action, replicating the feel of being in a high-octane action film.

Hardcore Mode Revealed

Alongside the announcement of the game’s availability on Nintendo Switch 2, Nekki also unveiled Hardcore mode. This enhanced difficulty setting imposes a no-damage rule on Redline, visually represented by a distinctive pair of sunglasses she wears in this mode. To maintain the integrity of the sunglasses, players must navigate encounters without sustaining any damage from enemy attacks or projectiles.
