Hugh Jackman Jests About Missing Dance Number in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
Hugh Jackman has expressed his delight with the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, but playfully remarked that he has “one little gripe” regarding a specific scene. The actor, known for his role as Wolverine, shared his humorous observation about the Ryan Reynolds led movie during a recent musical performance, much to the amusement of the audience.
Jackman’s Playful Complaint About Co-star Ryan Reynolds
During his musical review in New York City, Hugh Jackman, 56, paused to address the audience and share a lighthearted remark about Deadpool & Wolverine. As reported by The Daily Mail, Jackman jokingly stated he had “one little gripe” concerning the highly anticipated movie, which stars him alongside Ryan Reynolds.
“Don’t tell Ryan,” Jackman quipped, before revealing that he and Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Ryan Reynolds were in almost every scene together, except for the movie’s opening.
The Missing Opening Dance Sequence
Jackman elaborated on his playful frustration, stating, “Now that’s fine, I don’t need to be in every scene in the movie. But Ryan is a writer. And when I looked at the script, I noticed that the scene I’m not in is the introductory sequence, which is a dance number to an NSYNC song by Ryan.”
He continued, “I’m like, the one scene I’m not in involves dancing. Now Ryan, he’s very talented, but dancing?” Jackman’s comments drew laughter from the spectators.

Dance Double Acknowledged
The actor made sure to highlight that Reynolds, 48, did not perform the dance sequence himself. “There is absolutely no way I would attempt to compete with Ryan’s dance double Nick Pauley… because that guy is approximately 25 years old,” Jackman remarked, underscoring the humor in the situation.
Jackman Performs His Own Dance
To further illustrate his point, Jackman then proceeded to perform his own rendition of a dance to “Bye Bye Bye”—the very NSYNC song that Reynolds’ character Deadpool dances to in the film’s opening scene. This impromptu performance was met with enthusiastic applause and cheers from the crowd.
Relationship Updates
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster
While expressing mock disappointment about missing the dance sequence, Jackman’s personal life has also been a subject of recent interest. Earlier this year, in February, an insider close to the actor disclosed to Us Weekly that he and girlfriend Sutton Foster have been “spending considerable time together.”
“They’ve known each other for such a long time that progressing to the next phase of their relationship feels natural,” the source revealed. Furthermore, it was indicated that the pair have discussed moving in together. “They are not rushing into marriage but are dedicated to taking the next steps together,” a separate source confirmed to Us.
Deborra-Lee Furness Post-Divorce
Hugh Jackman was previously married to Deborra-Lee Furness for 27 years before their separation. Following their split announcement in September 2023, sources indicate Furness is focused on moving forward. In March, a source close to Furness told Us Weekly that the actress was “reconstructing her life.”
The source added, “She has relied on a robust network of female friends. She also spends time with other women who have experienced similar situations, who offer her unwavering support.”
