Dylan Efron Springs Into Action as Vacation Lifeguard in Miami Beach Rescue
While on vacation in Miami, Dylan Efron, brother of actor Zac Efron, unexpectedly found himself performing a real-life beach rescue, similar to the fictional scenes from the Baywatch movie his brother starred in. Dylan recounted the spontaneous event, highlighting his impromptu role as a lifeguard during a recent episode of the “Brooke and Connor Make a Podcast.”
Unexpected Turn of Events at South Beach
Dylan, 33, described the incident that occurred on April 5th at South Beach. He and his friend, Brennan, had just arrived on the sand when they heard shouting from the water. “The currents were incredibly strong,” Dylan stated, detailing the perilous conditions.
Heroic Response to Distress
The Traitors winner explained that they observed five individuals in the ocean, frantically waving their arms and calling for help. Seeing no professional lifeguards in the vicinity, Dylan and Brennan immediately reacted.
Swift Water Rescue
“We quickly ran into the ocean,” Dylan recalled. He noted that another person was already assisting two swimmers closer to shore. “There were still three further out, so I swam out, brought one person back to shore, and then returned for another,” he elaborated.
He emphasized the intensity of the riptide, mentioning, “From our entry point, the current dragged us approximately the length of a football field away.”

Dylan, a former college swimmer, admitted the situation was “very serious.” The second swimmer he aided was visibly shaken by the ordeal.
Comfort and Relief After Rescue
“The last swimmer I brought in was very panicked. I focused on calming her, telling her to just breathe,” Dylan recounted. “She embraced me in a long, tight hug, clearly overwhelmed with relief and safety. We hugged for a good minute. I reassured her, ‘You’re safe now, you’re alright.'”
After ensuring her well-being, Dylan simply “walked away.” Although his act of bravery was shared on social media, Dylan downplayed his actions, dismissing any notion of heroism.
Humble Perspective on Beach Heroism
“I genuinely believe most people would have acted similarly in that circumstance,” Dylan concluded, maintaining a modest stance regarding his rescue efforts.
Dylan Efron: Beyond Zac Efron’s Brother
While recognized as the younger brother of Zac Efron, 37, Dylan has carved his own path. Initially maintaining a lower profile than his famous sibling, he graduated from California Polytechnic State University in 2013 and entered the Hollywood industry, working in production roles.
Ventures in Entertainment and Adventure
In 2020, Dylan collaborated with Zac Efron as a producer for the Netflix series, Down to Earth With Zac Efron, showcasing Zac’s global explorations. Sharing a passion for outdoor activities, both brothers often share their travel adventures, including surfing and various water sports, with their followers.
Dylan further gained public recognition as a participant in season 3 of The Traitors, where he emerged as one of the season’s winners in March.
Adding to his ventures, Dylan recently premiered his documentary, The Fish That Saved a Village, also in March. He promoted the project on social media, stating, “What began as a local legend led us deep into the jungle — just two friends, a camera, and a story we couldn’t ignore,” expressing his enthusiasm for the documentary.
