Big Bang Theory Reunion: Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki Spark Online Buzz in New Royal Kingdom Ad
Fans of “The Big Bang Theory” are buzzing over a mini-reunion between Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki. The former sitcom co-stars, known for their roles as Penny and Leonard, have teamed up for a new advertisement promoting the video game Royal Kingdom. This on-screen reunion comes six years after the finale of the beloved CBS comedy series.
Remembering Leonard and Penny
“The Big Bang Theory” centered on a group of close-knit friends, including physicists Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), Leonard Hofstadter (Galecki), and Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg). Galecki’s character, Leonard, famously married Cuoco’s Penny. The on-screen couple celebrated their marriage in two ceremonies during the show, first eloping to Las Vegas in the Season 9 premiere and later holding a formal wedding for family and friends in Season 10.
Reunited for Royal Kingdom
Cuoco, aged 39, shared the commercial on her social media, expressing her enthusiasm with the caption: “This was so fun to shoot! Back together with my buddy JG.”
The video clip begins with the “Based on a True Story” actress searching through board games, announcing, “Okay ready for game night!”
However, Galecki, 49, known for his role in “Roseanne,” interrupts her with an alternative suggestion, presenting the Royal Kingdom mobile game.

The Game Night Commercial Unveiled
Entering the room, he showcases the app on his phone, stating, “Royal Kingdom is a brand new puzzle game that just launched. So we don’t need these,” referring to the board games.
A surprised Cuoco questions, “Wait, what?” as Galecki proceeds to clear the table and playfully tosses the board games out the window.
“Hey! Those are my games,” exclaims the “The Flight Attendant” star, before Galecki explains the merits of the app: “I told you, all we need is Royal Kingdom. You can build kingdoms by solving puzzles.”
Upon trying the game on Galecki’s phone, Cuoco is instantly captivated, remarking, “Oh wow! That is fun.”
In a humorous escalation, the “8 Simple Rules” veteran then throws more board games out the window, prompting Galecki to highlight that the app is free.
In response to the “free” aspect and carried away by the game’s allure, she then jokingly throws her credit cards out the window as well.
“Don’t even need wifi,” he further adds, after which Cuoco comically yanks out her router and shouts, “See you later router!”
Learning that the game is also ad-free, the pair proceeds to remove the television from the wall, sending it out the window as well.
Fan Reactions and Legacy of The Big Bang Theory
“Was that an overreaction?” she wonders aloud to her former co-star. “Maybe,” Galecki replies simply.
As they gaze out the window, Galecki’s character justifies their actions, “But this game is awesome.”
“Can we play the game now?” Cuoco asks, and both actors then take out their phones and commence playing Royal Kingdom.
Fans online swiftly expressed their excitement regarding the on-screen reunion in the comments section.
“We need a Penny & Leonard spinoff IMMEDIATELY!!” one enthusiastic fan commented, while another echoed, “We need more of these interactions!! Miss these two together!!”
Co-stars React to Reunion
Kevin Sussman, known for playing comic book store owner Stuart Bloom on “The Big Bang Theory,” also commented, “Miss you guys!”
Sussman, 54, is also anticipated to have a Big Bang Theory adjacent reunion in the upcoming sitcom spin-off “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,” alongside Brian Posehn and Lauren Lapkus.
Galecki also shared the commercial on his social media page, including a playful shoutout to Cuoco.
He humorously wrote about comparing social media engagement on their posts, ultimately urging fans to boost Cuoco’s “likes” as a “good deed.”
The Enduring Big Bang Theory Universe
“The Big Bang Theory” enjoyed a successful run for 12 seasons, airing from 2007 to 2019.
Before the conclusion of the series, the universe expanded with the prequel “Young Sheldon,” which focuses on a younger version of Cooper.
In 2024, the “Big Bang” franchise introduced its third spin-off, “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.”
This latest sitcom iteration centers on young parents Georgie Cooper, Sheldon’s older brother, and Mandy McAllister.
Reflections on Penny’s Character
In March, “The Big Bang Theory” co-creator, Chuck Lorre, openly discussed what he considered his biggest regret concerning Cuoco’s character, Penny.
Lorre admitted they initially missed the depth of Penny’s character, initially portraying her as a “goofy blond” stereotype. He noted that it took time to recognize Penny’s unique “intelligence about people and relationships and family,” which was distinct from the scientific minds of the other characters.
Notably, despite being a central character throughout all 12 seasons, Penny was intentionally never given a last name until her marriage to Leonard, highlighting the scientists’ initial disconnection from everyday social understanding, which Penny inherently possessed.
Originally, Amanda Walsh was cast as Katie in a pilot that was not aired. Katie was conceived as a tougher character. Cuoco’s Penny, introduced in the revised and aired pilot in 2007, brought a different dynamic, with Lorre highlighting her character’s non-judgmental amusement and warmth, which resonated strongly with audiences.
