Yankees’ Jazz Chisholm Jr. Suspended Following Ejection and Social Media Post
New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. has been handed a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine by Major League Baseball (MLB). The disciplinary actions, announced Friday, stem from his ejection during a game against the Tampa Bay Rays and a subsequent infraction of MLB’s social media policy.
MLB’s Decision Announced
The ruling was formally declared by Michael Hill, MLB’s senior vice president for on-field operations.
Chisholm to Appeal Suspension
Chisholm has opted to appeal the suspension, which effectively postpones the penalties pending further review. He was present in the starting lineup for the second game of the series against the Rays.
Ejection Incident Details
The ejection occurred in the seventh inning of Thursday night’s game. Home plate umpire John Bacon ejected Chisholm after he contested a called third strike. The disputed pitch, delivered by Tampa Bay pitcher Mason Montgomery on a full count, appeared to be low in the strike zone. This marked Chisholm’s fifth career ejection and his first as a member of the Yankees.
Social Media Policy Violation
Following his ejection, Chisholm posted a message on social media platform X stating, “Not even fucking close!!!!!”. The post was later removed.

Chisholm’s Post-Game Comments
“Initially, I didn’t believe anything I said warranted an ejection, but upon reflection, perhaps it did,” Chisholm acknowledged after the game. “As a competitor, when I strongly disagree with a call and feel I am correct, I tend to become animated and express my frustration.”
He further stated, “I allowed my emotions to get the better of me. I lost composure and need to exhibit better control. I am certainly disappointed in myself for losing my cool.”
