Hip-hop icon Lil Wayne has asserted he is not interested in performing at a future Super Bowl halftime show, months after the New Orleans-born rapper voiced his disappointment regarding Kendrick Lamar headlining the prestigious event in his hometown. This revelation questions whether the acclaimed artist will ever grace the Super Bowl stage.
Lack of Interest in Future Super Bowl Performances
Following previous remarks expressing his dismay that Kendrick Lamar was chosen as the Super Bowl halftime show entertainer in New Orleans, Lil Wayne has now disclosed his position on potentially undertaking the highly sought-after performance in subsequent years.
“They deprived me of that feeling,” he stated to Rolling Stone in an interview published on April 17. “I have no desire to do it. It was perfect then.”
Skipped Kendrick Lamar’s Performance
He further admitted that he did not watch Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show performance, despite being present at Caesars Superdome. “Each time I glanced over,” he elaborated, “there was nothing compelling me to enter and observe the event.”
Felt Led On By the NFL
Lil Wayne also claimed that preceding the formal announcement of the Super Bowl halftime show headliner, the NFL had encouraged him to increase his public appearances, leading him to believe he was the presumptive selection for the coveted performance.
