Samsung has introduced the Galaxy XCover7 Pro, a new rugged phone designed primarily for enterprise and business users, though available to all consumers. This durable device, succeeding the XCover6 Pro from 2022, boasts enhanced specifications including increased battery capacity, a more robust processor, and integrated AI capabilities. The Galaxy XCover7 Pro also offers an extended seven years of software and security updates, ensuring longevity and consistent performance.

Alongside the rugged phone, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, a rugged tablet featuring a 120Hz display refresh rate, AI functionalities, and an impressive eight years of OS and security updates.

This launch occurs amidst economic uncertainties, although recent exemptions have removed reciprocal tariffs from smartphones, laptops, and other consumer electronics.

These rugged devices present a compelling option for budget-conscious buyers seeking durable technology built to withstand demanding work conditions, such as those found in construction, manufacturing, or healthcare. Samsung states the XCover7 Pro is engineered to endure drops from up to 1.5 meters, and the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro offers similar durability, even surviving the same drop height when equipped with a protective cover. Prioritizing ruggedness over sleek design, both gadgets are MIL-STD-810H certified, signifying they have passed military-grade durability testing. In terms of features, Samsung positions the XCover7 Pro above its mid-range Galaxy A series but below the premium Galaxy S series.

Both the rugged phone and rugged tablet share numerous specifications and improvements, including upgraded speakers with anti-feedback noise reduction, enhanced volume, and increased audio clarity. Samsung highlights a new Vision Booster feature that optimizes color and contrast, improving display visibility even in bright sunlight. Additionally, the touchscreens on both devices are responsive to touch even when users are wearing gloves up to 2mm thick. Both devices operate on Android 15.
