Jane McDonald Lists Yorkshire Bungalow for Sale
TV personality and singer Jane McDonald has placed her luxurious Yorkshire bungalow on the market with a £1 million price tag, four years after the passing of her partner, Eddie Rothe. After calling the Wakefield residence home for 18 years, the 62-year-old entertainer is reportedly seeking a change of scenery and a new property. McDonald, who has shared the spacious abode with her close friend Sue Ravey since 2022, recently renovated the bungalow, which now features an open-plan kitchen, stunning views, and expansive walk-in wardrobes.
Luxury Features and Downsizing Plans
In a previous interview, McDonald hinted at her plans to downsize. “I transformed the bungalow into a house during lockdown,” she stated, adding, “I had everything updated and it’s beautiful, but now it feels too large. It’s just too much to maintain. I’m likely to downsize; the coast is calling to me.”
The substantial bungalow boasts five bedrooms, four opulent bathrooms, a sunroom, and a gym. The property’s value has appreciated significantly over the years, from £205,000 in 1998 to £485,000 in 2007, reaching its current valuation of £1 million.
Deep Yorkshire Roots
McDonald has openly expressed her strong connection to her Yorkshire origins. During her programme, ‘My Love Letter To Yorkshire,’ she conveyed, “It’s my home. I adore it, I yearn for it when I’m away, and I am immensely proud of it.”
Her deep affection for her native region is unwavering. “Regardless of my location, I consistently endeavoured to mention Wakefield, or ‘Wakey’ as I affectionately call it,” she admitted. “This was because I wanted everyone to know about my wonderful home city and the broader county of Yorkshire.”

Loss and Remembrance
In 2021, Jane McDonald experienced the devastating loss of Eddie Rothe, her beloved partner, who tragically died at 67 after battling lung cancer.
Reflecting on their relationship, McDonald described Rothe as “one of the most incredible people” she had ever encountered.

McDonald and Rothe shared a long history, reconnecting later in life and embarking on their romantic journey in the early 2000s. They became engaged in 2008.
Jane has voiced her profound gratitude for experiencing “genuine love” with the musician. “You must discover your personal method of coping with grief, it’s incredibly challenging. It’s a constant presence. People assume, ‘Oh, she’s moved on’,” she explained.
“But it never truly departs. Each morning, I must consciously decide the trajectory of my day, because one can succumb to sorrow, or choose a path forward.”
