Haley Joel Osment Arrested at Ski Resort, Bodycam Footage Reveals
Actor Haley Joel Osment, known for his role in “The Sixth Sense,” faced legal trouble earlier this month after being arrested at a California ski resort for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance. Bodycam footage, obtained by news outlets on Thursday, captured the incident at Mammoth Mountain in Mammoth Lakes, California, on April 8, revealing the actor using antisemitic slurs and calling a police officer a “Nazi” during the arrest.
Belligerent Behavior and Disrupted Arrest
The 37-year-old performer, visibly uncooperative and struggling to keep his trousers secured, was apprehended by law enforcement at the ski resort. Footage shows Osment’s ski pants becoming unbuttoned, slipping down as officers attempted to handcuff and detain him.
In the video, Osment can be heard making exclamations such as, “I’ve been kidnapped by a f–king Nazi.” He also asserted he was “being attacked” and accused the officers of “torturing me.” Despite his resistance, officers repeatedly urged the Oscar nominee to cooperate, instructing him to “use your legs and stand up.”
Slurs and Erratic Conduct
Osment initially refused to provide his name to the officers, evading direct responses as they questioned his identity. Throughout the interaction, Osment repeatedly declared, “I’m an American,” to which an officer responded, “Well, you’re under arrest now.”

Discovery of Suspected Cocaine Residue
The bodycam recording further indicates that police discovered what appeared to be cocaine residue on currency found alongside a room key inside his ski helmet.
“I think there’s cocaine in that,” one officer is heard saying.
Escalating Outburst and Further Slurs
While seated in the police car en route to jail, Osment was recorded telling law enforcement, “You’re f–kin’ with my life.” He was also captured on video telling officers, “You’ll wish you treated me nicer,” before directing another slur at one of them.
“I was decent to you and you, and you are a f–king k–e,” Osment stated, directing an antisemitic slur. As he was escorted into the jail, the actor remarked to officers, “Good luck.”
Several portions of the video’s audio have been redacted.
Osment’s Apology and Explanation
Statement on Behavior
In an exclusive statement regarding the bodycam footage, Osment expressed remorse, stating, “I’m absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner.”
Personal Hardship
He also cited recent personal struggles, including the loss of his home in the Altadena wildfire in January. “The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place,” he explained. “But that’s no excuse for using this disgusting word. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage – I’ve let the Jewish community down and it devastates me.”
Pledge to Atone
Osment concluded, “I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.”
Initial Incident and Charges
Law enforcement and ski patrol responded to a call concerning an allegedly inebriated individual at Mammoth Mountain resort shortly before 2 p.m. following reports of an intoxicated person.
Following his arrest, Osment was released from custody. However, the Mono County District Attorney in California proceeded with charges including possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct while under the influence of alcohol in a public space. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Mugshot and Past Legal Issues
Osment’s mugshot shows him smiling broadly, contrasting with the seriousness of the charges.
This is not the first instance of legal trouble for Osment. In 2006, at age 18, he was arrested after overturning his vehicle and colliding with a mailbox in Los Angeles while under the influence. He sustained injuries in the accident, including a fractured rib and shoulder injury.
Previous DUI and Rehab
He pleaded no contest to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of marijuana possession. The actor received a sentence of three years of probation, 60 hours in a rehabilitation program, and was required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for six months.
Osment later described the 2006 arrest to news outlets as a “really, really serious lapse of judgment.”
