We are certain that the rapid dissemination of information significantly contributed to the successful recovery of the victim and the apprehension of the suspect.”
Child Safety and Suspect Custody
The 10-year-old was temporarily placed in protective custody before being reunited with family members, officials confirmed.
Naval was taken into custody and subsequently transferred to Kern County on Wednesday. A formal complaint is anticipated to be filed on Friday, as reported by The Sacramento Bee.
Currently, it remains unclear if Naval has legal representation.

Legal Actions Against Roblox and Discord
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier issued a subpoena to Roblox on Wednesday, demanding the company disclose details regarding its marketing practices, age verification protocols, and methods of collecting children’s data.
A representative for Roblox stated, “We intend to cooperate fully with the Attorney General’s office and are eager to share information about Roblox’s ongoing efforts to ensure user safety.”
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin announced a lawsuit against Discord on Thursday, alleging “deceptive and unconscionable business practices that misled parents regarding the effectiveness of its safety measures and obscured the dangers children encounter while using the application.”
Discord responded in a statement: “Discord takes pride in its sustained commitment and investments in features and tools designed to enhance safety on our platform. Considering our dialogue with the Attorney General’s office, we are surprised by New Jersey’s public announcement of legal action against Discord today. We contest the allegations presented in the lawsuit and look forward to vigorously defending our position in court.”
Sheriff’s Office Internet Safety Reminder
In light of this recent event, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office issued a public service message emphasizing the critical importance of internet safety.
“Parents, diligently monitor all electronic device usage and be aware of who your children are communicating with online,” the release stated. “Numerous applications and games possess messaging functionalities and present equivalent, if not greater, risks compared to conventional social media platforms.”
