Tribeca Festival Unveils 2025 Program

The renowned New York event, which streamlined its name in 2022, eliminating “Film,” revealed its program on Wednesday. Scheduled to run from June 4th to 15th, the festival will commence with the debut of “Billy Joel: And So It Goes,” a two-part HBO documentary directed by Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin, chronicling the life of the celebrated 75-year-old musician.

Highlights this year include “Tow,” starring Rose Byrne in the role of a woman facing homelessness after her car is impounded. “The Best You Can,” featuring Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, depicts the story of a New Yorker in a relationship with a significantly older professor. Adding a thriller element, “One Spoon of Chocolate,” written and directed by RZA, follows a formerly incarcerated military veteran compelled to seek justice independently in a small town setting.

Closing Night Gala Features Amazon Activist Documentary

The festival’s prestigious closing night gala will present the premiere of “Yanuni,” a Leonardo DiCaprio-produced film. This powerful documentary centers on Juma Xipaia, an Indigenous Brazilian Amazon activist and chief, who bravely defends her people’s ancestral lands despite facing numerous assassination attempts. “Yanuni” promises to be a poignant and impactful conclusion to the 2025 Tribeca Festival.
