The force appears to be returning to Fortnite. Rumors have been circulating for weeks suggesting that the massively popular battle royale game Fortnite would feature an entire season of content themed around the Star Wars universe, and this collaboration is potentially becoming official.
On Wednesday, the official Fortnite account on X (formerly Twitter) disclosed that a significant announcement would be made at Star Wars Celebration in Japan on Saturday, April 19. While a season centered on Star Wars remained unconfirmed in the post, it hinted at “what’s to come in Fortnite.”
A specific time for this Star Wars–Fortnite announcement on Saturday has not been disclosed. For those interested in following the announcement, keep an eye on the official Star Wars YouTube channel, which will host livestreams of Celebration events.
Disney, LucasFilm, and Fortnite developer Epic Games did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Regarding the potential collaboration, FASTNET Senior Reporter David Lumb stated, “With all the recent map area takeovers, it would not be unexpected for Epic and LucasFilm to collaborate on Star Wars content. With no major Star Wars films or series being released that this could promote, apart from the second season of the acclaimed political thriller Andor, it is likely a straightforward crossover for fans of both franchises, offering more than just cosmetic additions to the game.”
Fortnite Star Wars Season: Chapter 6 Season 3 Speculation
While the announcement suggests a Star Wars season is becoming official, this collaboration has been the subject of rumors for some time, fueled by reports from reliable sources within the game’s community.
On March 26, FNBRIntel reported on X that Chapter 6, Season 3 of Fortnite would be centered entirely around Star Wars and feature:
- New Points of Interest (POIs) inspired by the franchise
- New mythical items and character skins
- A narrative connection to the Star Wars universe
Reports also suggest that this new content will be centered on the original film trilogy.
Typically, a “season” in Fortnite can span several months. It may seem unusual for Fortnite, known for incorporating numerous intellectual properties, to dedicate an entire season to a single franchise; however, leaks indicate that Chapter 6, Season 3, will be shorter, lasting approximately one month, from May 2 to June 8.
Disney, LucasFilm, and Epic Games have a history of collaboration, with Star Wars content and characters having been prominently featured in Fortnite over the years. Notably, a significant canonical story development crucial to the 2019 film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, unfolded exclusively within Fortnite.
More Star Wars Video Game News Expected at Celebration
Star Wars Celebration, as its name suggests, is dedicated to all aspects of Star Wars, and further video game announcements beyond the Fortnite collaboration are anticipated. Electronic Arts recently announced that Star Wars: Zero Company, a new turn-based strategy game developed by Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor, will be showcased at Celebration on April 19.
Respawn is renowned for developing the Titanfall shooter series and its battle royale spin-off, Apex Legends, as well as the acclaimed Star Wars Jedi series. Bit Reactor is a newer developer specializing in strategy games, composed of experienced developers who previously contributed to the XCOM and Civilization franchises.
