Venice Implements Increased Entry Fee for Daytrippers

Visitors planning to explore the famed canals and iconic landmarks of Venice will need to factor in an updated access fee. The city has increased the daily charge for daytrippers entering its historic center, particularly for those purchasing access less than four days in advance of their visit. This adjustment sees the fee rise from approximately £4.27 in the previous year to £8.50 in 2025. The enhanced levy is scheduled to be implemented as early as this week.

Revised Venice Access Fee Schedule

The tourist fee will be mandatory daily from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm throughout April. In May, the charge applies from Thursday, May 1st, until Sunday, and subsequently every Friday to Sunday. For June and July, the fee is required every Friday to Sunday, with an additional charge on Monday, June 2nd.

Expanded Application of the Tourist Charge

The access charge will be in effect for twice the number of days in 2025 compared to the preceding year, impacting a greater number of potential visitors to Venice.

Penalties for Non-Compliance

Individuals discovered within designated control areas without the necessary documentation of fee payment may incur fines ranging from €50 to €300 (approximately £42 to £256).

Incentive for Advance Booking

For 2025, an early booking incentive is available, allowing tourists to pay a reduced rate of €5 (around £4.27) if payment is secured at least four days prior to their arrival in Venice.
