The revelation of the baptism came as a complete shock to Fox. She questioned her ex-husband about her absence from the event. “He responded, ‘You were invited; you simply declined to attend,’” Fox claimed. “To which I replied, ‘Firstly, do not misrepresent my invitations. Absolutely not. Had I been invited to such a significant event, I would have attended and remembered. Furthermore, if I was truly invited, where is any evidence? No one informed me of this.’”
Accusations of Gaslighting and Family Involvement
Fox further alleged that Artemiev persisted in denying her lack of invitation, an assertion she likened to the “gaslighting” she purportedly experienced during their past relationship. Seeking clarification, she contacted his mother but reportedly received a similar response.

“His mother stated that ‘the priest indicated it was a Russian Orthodox custom, and only Russian Orthodox individuals could be present.’ It became clear to me then where his behavior originates,” Fox conveyed to her followers. “Gaslighting me is unacceptable. The Uncut Gems star emphasized that she has been “solely raising this child for four years” and expressed to Artemiev’s mother her feeling of being “deprived” of participating in a significant milestone in her son’s life. “She then questioned, ‘Are you going to punish me now? Prevent me from seeing Valentino?’ I clarified that I do not operate in such a manner,” she continued. “My son has affection for you because he is unaware of these dynamics. I would not do that to him. However, now I understand… I now have confirmation of your family’s behavior, and it is contemptible.”
Fox concluded her video by describing the overall situation as “absurd” and cautioned her audience “sincerely,” advising, “Your choice of co-parent profoundly shapes your future life. Avoid having children with someone inept.”
Artemiev‘s Rebuttal
Artemiev responded to Fox’s TikTok video with a statement to People, asserting that his mother had sought Fox’s consent to baptize Valentino in February 2024. “Her reply to my mother was, ‘I am indifferent to religion. If you wish to baptize him, proceed. I do not care,’” he informed the publication.
Artemiev further mentioned that at the time of Fox’s TikTok post on April 4, Valentino was “under my mother’s care, as is customary.”

Fox and Artemiev married in 2018 but separated after less than two years, with their divorce finalized in July 2020. Fox gave birth to their son in January 2021 and subsequently had brief romantic associations with Drake and Kanye West.
