Trump Calls for CBS License Revocation Following Broadcasts on Ukraine and Greenland
Former US President Donald Trump has launched a tirade on his social media platform, Truth Social, demanding that CBS television network should “lose their license.” The condemnation follows recent broadcasts, including coverage of the war in Ukraine and a report concerning Greenland. Trump characterized the network’s reporting as “unlawful and illegal,” asserting that CBS is “out of control.” He contended that CBS is not a legitimate news outlet, but rather a “dishonest Political Operative simply disguised as ‘News,'” insisting they be held accountable for their reporting.
Social Media Outburst Follows 60 Minutes Episodes
The online outburst is a response to a recent episode of CBS’s 60 Minutes program. During the broadcast, journalist Scott Pelley interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the site of a Russian military assault. Zelensky articulated his animosity towards Russian President Vladimir Putin and extended an invitation to Mr. Trump to visit Ukraine to witness firsthand the devastation of the conflict.
Trump stated during his online remarks that the conflict in Ukraine “would never have happened if the 2020 Election had not been RIGGED,” reiterating his unfounded claims of election fraud.
Another 60 Minutes segment featured correspondent Jon Wertheim reporting on the reaction in Greenland to Trump’s past interest in acquiring the territory.
Trump criticized this segment, claiming 60 Minutes is “casting our Country, as led by me, falsely, inaccurately, and fraudulently.”

Greenland residents were interviewed during the report and affirmed that the territory is “not for sale” and expressed their opposition to becoming part of the United States. This segment alluded to previous reports suggesting the White House had considered a substantial financial offer, exceeding Denmark’s annual subsidy to Greenland, estimated at $600 million (£463 million) annually.

In his statement, Trump also referenced a multi-billion-dollar lawsuit facing CBS, stemming from the editing of an interview with Kamala Harris. He alleges the interview was manipulated to portray the former Democratic presidential candidate in a favorable light.
Trump’s Full Social Media Post
Excerpts from the Truth Social Statement:
Trump’s complete social media posting further elaborated on his grievances, asserting that 60 Minutes “mentions the name ‘TRUMP’ in a derogatory and defamatory way” nearly every week. He specifically referenced the lawsuit related to the Kamala Harris interview during the 2024 Presidential Election coverage.
He continued, stating that the recent “BROADCAST” surpassed previous reports, citing “TWO, major stories on ‘TRUMP,'” encompassing coverage of Ukraine and Greenland. He repeated his assertion that the war in Ukraine is a consequence of the “RIGGED” 2020 election.
Trump accused CBS of doing “everything possible to illegally elect Kamala,” alleging the network “completely and corruptly” altered answers during interviews, which he claims “didn’t work for them.”
He reiterated his call for license revocation, describing CBS as a “dishonest Political Operative” masquerading as news and demanding accountability for their actions. Trump expressed hope that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), under Chairman Brendan Carr, would impose “maximum fines and punishment” for CBS’s alleged “unlawful and illegal behavior.” He concluded by stating CBS is “out of control” and should “pay a big price,” reiterating his slogan, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
