ITV Host Shivi Ramoutar Receives Fan Warnings Over On-Screen Outfit

Chef and ITV presenter Shivi Ramoutar, co-host of “Jimmy and Shivi’s Farmhouse Breakfast” alongside Jimmy Doherty, has revealed that a clothing choice during the show’s previous season prompted a wave of cautionary messages from viewers. The new series is scheduled to air on Saturday, April 19.

Wardrobe Malfunction or Misunderstanding?

Pineapple Pattern Provokes Cruise Ship Confusion

In an exclusive conversation with Express.co.uk, the 40-year-old mother of three admitted she generally avoids paying attention to social media comments about the program. However, she acknowledged noticing a surge in feedback on one particular Instagram post, filled with unsolicited advice.

“I prefer Instagram over X as it feels like a more positive social media platform; you encounter fewer negative attacks. But last year, the post that generated the most messages was after an episode where I wore an outfit with pineapples on it. People were saying, ‘Don’t wear that on a cruise ship!'” she exclaimed. “I must have been the only person unaware of the pineapple meaning when it’s upside down,” she added, laughing.

Ramoutar was alluding to the now widely known connotation of an inverted pineapple on a cruise ship, which signifies openness to “swinging” or partner swapping. This once-secret signal has gained widespread recognition recently, largely due to viral TikTok videos.

Social Media Scrutiny and Viewer Feedback

Embracing Viewer Engagement

Despite the pineapple incident, and while Shivi might not actively read all viewer comments herself, she conveyed her amusement regarding feedback that a producer had shared.

“Of course, we hope for favourable comments. I’m not actually on Twitter, but last year, a producer relayed a comment that questioned: ‘Who is the target audience for this? Is this children’s TV? Is it adult TV?'”

“That kind of query is precisely what I hope for from viewers. I want to generate that level of interest,” Shivi stated.

‘Farmhouse Breakfast’ Aims to Inspire Weekend Viewers

A Refreshing TV Format

“We feel very privileged to have this role. It’s truly wonderful. Moving our broadcast from Sunday to Saturday morning is fantastic because it allows us to offer weekend inspiration,” she mentioned.

“Admittedly, there are nerves involved. But I also believe that there’s genuinely nothing quite like this TV show format before,” she continued.

“It’s so different from typical sofa-based programmes, and it provides a breath of fresh air.”

“And it genuinely is a breath of fresh air, because we are actually filming outdoors,” she pointed out.

Return of ‘Jimmy and Shivi’s Farmhouse Breakfast’

Jimmy and Shivi’s Farmhouse Breakfast” will be broadcast on ITV and ITVX starting Saturday, April 19.
