Eddie Murphy and Paige Butcher: Family Life with Izzy and Max

Renowned actor Eddie Murphy and his wife Paige Butcher share a loving family life with their two young children, Izzy and Max. The couple, who solidified their relationship publicly four years prior, welcomed their daughter Izzy in May 2016, expanding Murphy’s already extensive family.

A Father of Nine (and Counting?)

The Saturday Night Live veteran has openly expressed his joy in fatherhood. “I adore children, and my children are the greatest happiness in my life,” Murphy stated on The Ellen DeGeneres Show several years ago. Referencing his large family, he added, “I love having nine kids.”

Furthermore, Murphy indicated his openness to further expanding their family, remarking, “I would have ten, if Paige is willing.”

Welcoming Son Max

Butcher evidently shared his sentiment. In November 2018, the couple celebrated the arrival of their son, Max. Their children have also been introduced to some of their father’s famous film roles.

Sharing Select Films with Their Children

“The only films they’ve viewed are Shrek and Mulan—along with brief segments of Coming to America,” Murphy revealed to E! News in 2024. He further noted, “Doctor Doolittle they’ve already watched, and Daddy Day Care is next on our list.”

Maintaining Privacy: No Social Media Presence

Despite their high-profile status, neither Murphy nor Butcher, who married in July 2024, are expected to share images of their children on social media platforms, largely because they intentionally avoid maintaining such accounts.

Paige Butcher’s Perspective on Privacy

Butcher, an Australian model, discussed her decision to forgo social media in a 2013 interview with Vanity Fair. “I used Facebook for approximately a year, then transitioned to Instagram, before ultimately deleting both,” she explained. “I then experimented with Twitter, but eventually eliminated all of them.”

Reasons for Opting Out of Social Media

She elaborated on her rationale, stating, “Being in a relationship with a well-known personality, I felt that my public presence was already substantial. I believed I was divulging excessive personal information, granting people too much insight. I now prefer to maintain a high degree of privacy. As is often said, anything can be used against you. The more you expose, the more scrutiny you attract. Moreover, I wasn’t actively engaging with it; my posts were quite uninteresting, mostly concerning my volunteer endeavors.”
