Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick Opt for Intimate Baby Shower and Wedding, Excluding Some ‘The Valley’ Cast Members
Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick of The Valley have decided against turning their forthcoming baby shower and wedding into a large cast gathering. The couple is intentionally keeping these celebrations intimate, opting to exclude certain personalities from the Bravo reality series.
Excluding Cast Members from Celebrations
Speaking exclusively with Us Weekly at The Valley season 2 premiere event on Thursday, April 10, Doute, 42, stated that some cast members from the Bravo program are “definitely not on my baby shower or my birthday invite list.” She further clarified, “So, they’re definitely not on the wedding list,” indicating a clear decision to limit attendance at these personal events.
While Doute refrained from naming the specific co-stars who did not make the guest list, she hinted, “I think if you watch season 2, you’ll be able to discern promptly who that would be.” This suggests that ongoing storylines and interpersonal dynamics within the show’s second season will illuminate the reasons behind these exclusions.
Season 2 Drama Hints at Cast Tension
The season 2 trailer for The Valley, released last month, previewed heightened tensions between Doute and fellow cast member Janet Caperna. In the initial seven minutes of season 2, which Bravo released on Thursday, Doute declares Caperna is “dead to me.” This dramatic statement underscores the potential rift within the cast and offers clues regarding the exclusion of certain individuals from Doute’s personal celebrations.
Doute did not confirm whether Caperna would receive an invitation to her baby shower or wedding, but admitted to Us that she might have expressed “some things that were a little harsh” about her co-star. She elaborated, “I feel like I did say some things that were a little harsh, but slightly true in the moment. I just speak about how I feel at the time. I’m never wrong in the moment.”
Preparing for Parenthood While Wedding Plans are Postponed
Despite any interpersonal drama, Doute and Broderick, 33, are enthusiastically preparing to become first-time parents. The couple became engaged in September 2024, after dating for two years, and announced their pregnancy two months later. In December 2024, it was confirmed that they are expecting a baby girl.

“I’m feeling pretty decent right now. It’s a challenging first pregnancy,” Doute told Us at Thursday’s premiere. “I didn’t really know what to anticipate. I don’t know if it’s my age or what it is, but [I’m] super grateful, super excited and ready for her to arrive.”
Broderick commented that he is “as ready as I can be without having done it before,” reflecting the mixture of anticipation and uncertainty common with impending parenthood.
Due to the focus on baby preparations, the couple has put their wedding planning on hold. “It’s non-existent. Baby planning first,” Doute quipped. Broderick added, “[We have to] get our footing with the baby, and then, we’ll start discussing [the wedding].”
Destination Wedding Considered for Larger Guest List
Regarding their vision for the wedding, Doute mentioned they are considering a “destination wedding” to accommodate the extensive number of family and friends they wish to invite.
“Isn’t that why people do destination weddings, so you can invite everyone and then they’re like, ‘I couldn’t possibly make it.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I’m so sorry,’” she remarked, humorously referencing a common rationale for destination weddings.
Currently, Broderick stated that their guest list will include close family and “the tightest people to us outside of our blood,” suggesting a more intimate ceremony might still be preferred.
Future Family Plans
The pair also hinted at future aspirations to expand their family. “We would really like to have two and we don’t know, ’cause we did IUI this time around and I don’t know what that process looks like for us,” Doute shared, expressing uncertainty about another pregnancy journey.
She added, “I think we’ll figure it out like after [our baby] gets here and like, ‘OK, how quickly can I manage it and how quickly can he handle me?’”
The Valley season 2 premieres on Bravo Tuesday, April 15, at 9 p.m. ET.
