Airline Food Survey: Emirates and Ryanair Rank at Opposite Ends

For travelers, the quality of airline food is frequently a point of discussion. A recent survey has now pinpointed the airlines offering the best and worst dining experiences for their passengers, highlighting key differences in passenger satisfaction with in-flight meals, snacks, and drinks.

Emirates Tops Rankings for Inflight Dining

According to a survey conducted by YouGov: Self-serve, Emirates has emerged as the leader in airline food quality. An impressive 84 percent of passengers expressed positive feedback regarding the airline’s selection of snacks and beverages. Furthermore, 85 percent of travelers were satisfied with the quality of meals served onboard Emirates flights. Notably, nearly half (43 percent) of respondents specifically rated Emirates’ snack offerings as "very good."

Qatar Airways and Virgin Atlantic Follow Closely

Qatar Airways, recognized as the World’s Best Airline for 2024, secured the second position in the rankings. Eighty-three percent of passengers rated their snacks and drinks favorably, while 82 percent were content with the in-flight meal options. Virgin Atlantic claimed the third spot, with nearly three-quarters (74 percent) of passengers giving positive ratings to their snack and drink service and 73 percent expressing satisfaction with the quality of in-flight meals.

British Airways Leads Among UK Airlines

Among UK-based airlines, British Airways received the highest marks for its food and beverage offerings. Sixty-one percent of British Airways passengers rated the airline’s snacks and drinks positively. The airline performed even better in the in-flight meals category, garnering positive ratings from 63 percent of passengers.

Ryanair Receives Lowest Marks for Airline Food

On the other end of the spectrum, budget carrier Ryanair was identified as having the lowest-rated food among the airlines surveyed. A mere 21 percent of Ryanair passengers considered the airline’s snacks and drinks to be satisfactory, while over 40 percent (41 percent) deemed the offerings as poor. In terms of in-flight meals, only 17 percent of passengers reported being happy with their meal, and a significant 50 percent described the budget airline’s meals as "poor."

Wizz Air and easyJet Also Rank Low

Wizz Air also received unfavorable ratings, with only 25 percent of passengers expressing satisfaction with the provided snacks and drinks. Similarly, 40 percent of passengers rated Wizz Air’s in-flight meals as "bad." EasyJet also found itself among the bottom-ranked airlines, with just 35 percent of travelers rating their snacks and drinks positively. In-flight meals on easyJet also failed to impress, with only 29 percent of passengers reporting a positive experience.
