Teddi Mellencamp initially disclosed her melanoma diagnosis in 2022 and has since been notably candid about her cancer journey. Recently, Teddi shared a concerning update on Instagram, revealing the discovery of multiple brain tumors by her medical team after she experienced severe headaches.
“For the past several weeks, I have been experiencing intense and persistent headaches,” she stated in her social media announcement. “Yesterday, the discomfort became overwhelming and necessitated hospitalization. Following a CT scan and MRI, physicians identified several tumors in my brain, which they suspect have been growing for at least half a year.” She further explained that two tumors were scheduled to be “surgically removed today,” with the remaining tumors to be treated with radiation “at a later time.”
“I am fortunate to have the support of my children, family, friends, physicians, nurses, and surgeons who are dedicated to restoring my health,” she concluded. “I express my gratitude to everyone who has reached out and shown support throughout this process.”
In April 2025, Teddi provided an update to Us Weekly, stating that she was “fighting for her life.”
“It’s not only my life I’m fighting for, but also the lives of my family and loved ones,” Teddi added, mentioning that she had four additional brain tumors.
Teddi revealed on her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast that her father has already made funeral arrangements. She recounted part of their conversation, stating, “Finally, I responded, ‘I’m in the bath. Let me live a little.’ He replies, ‘I just want to confirm you will be placed in our family mausoleum.’”
