From Passion Project to Reality: The Genesis of Duskfade
Weird Beluga Studio’s journey commenced in 2019 when five university friends entered the PlayStation Talents competition with a passionate project. Their efforts were recognized with awards for Best Game and Best Art. Fueled by the impetus and backing received from PlayStation Talents and Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain, they made a pivotal decision: leaving university to establish Weird Beluga Studio and fully commit to game development.
In 2021, just two years later, they launched their initial title, Clid the Snail, on PS4 and PS5. This marked a significant milestone for a team that grew up playing on PS1, PS2, and PS3. The early support from PlayStation was instrumental not only in launching their first game but also in shaping their overall trajectory.
Presently, three of the original five developers – Tomás Manzano Sobrido, Diego Redondo González, and Ricardo Chorques Mesa – continue to lead the studio. Fireshine Games is delighted to collaborate with them to bring Duskfade to fruition.
