Ryan Reynolds Navigates NYC Amid Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni Legal Dispute

Ryan Reynolds was observed solo in New York City as legal proceedings continue between his spouse, Blake Lively, and It Ends With Us director, Justin Baldoni. The actor’s appearance comes amid ongoing court filings and public statements concerning accusations of workplace misconduct.

Reynolds Spotted in New York City

The Deadpool star, 48, was pictured walking in New York City on Wednesday, April 9, sporting a relaxed look consisting of a grey cardigan and matching sweatpants. He paired the comfortable attire with a peach-colored T-shirt and sunglasses.

Legal Battle Origins: Lively’s Allegations Against Baldoni

Both Reynolds and Lively, 37, have maintained a relatively low profile as the lawsuit unfolds. Lively initially brought forth allegations of sexual harassment and the creation of a hostile work environment against Baldoni, 41, during the production of the 2024 film It Ends With Us. These accusations were detailed in court papers submitted late last year.

Baldoni’s Defamation Lawsuit and Rebuttals

Baldoni has strongly refuted these claims and subsequently launched a $400 million defamation suit naming both Lively and Reynolds. The married actors have denied the accusations and each filed motions in March to have the case dismissed.

Reynolds’ Attorneys Respond to Defamation Claims

Attorneys Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, representing Reynolds, issued a statement last month addressing the core of Baldoni’s lawsuit. “The entirety of Mr. Baldoni’s case appears to hinge on Mr. Reynolds allegedly privately calling Mr. Baldoni a ‘predator,’ but here is the issue: that is not defamation unless they can demonstrate that Mr. Reynolds did not believe that statement to be accurate,” they stated. “The complaint fails to allege that, and in fact, the allegations within the complaint suggest that Mr. Reynolds genuinely believes Mr. Baldoni is a predator.”

Baldoni’s Legal Team Counters Reynolds’ Motion

Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, countered that Reynolds’ request for dismissal should be denied, citing Reynolds’ alleged involvement in the movie’s production. Notably, Lively had previously mentioned at the August 2024 premiere that Reynolds assisted in rewriting a crucial scene in the script without the screenwriter’s knowledge.

Escalating Tensions and Accusations

“Mr. Reynolds’ exploitation of his considerable influence in Hollywood persists, this time boldly seeking dismissal from the case despite his publicly documented involvement extending far beyond merely being a ‘supportive spouse,’” Freedman asserted to media outlets. “Reynolds was a central figure in the scheme, defaming Justin throughout Hollywood, pressuring WME to terminate Justin as a client, and attempting to sabotage Justin’s career by any means possible. His involvement has been evident throughout this smear campaign against Justin and the Wayfarer team from the outset.”

Freedman further added, “Mr. Reynolds now attempts to minimize plainly valid claims to ‘hurt feelings,’ sending a clear message that intimidation is acceptable. After initiating this conflict, Mr. Reynolds now seeks to evade responsibility. It will not succeed. The Wayfarer Parties’ claims against him are substantial, and they are serious.”

Legal Proceedings Continue

A judge has not yet issued a ruling on Lively and Reynolds’ motions to dismiss the case. Currently, a trial is tentatively scheduled for spring 2026.
