Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Children May Sidestep Hollywood Spotlight
Despite Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker’s prominent careers as acclaimed actors in Hollywood, their children may not be following in their footsteps. The daughters of the Tony Award winner and the celebrated star of Sex and the City are reportedly considering paths outside of the entertainment industry.
Daughters Uninterested in Acting Careers
Twin daughters Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell, both 15, are not currently showing interest in pursuing acting, according to their father. Matthew Broderick revealed at the SeriousFun Children’s Network fundraising gala in New York City on April 7 that at least one of his daughters is leaning away from a career in entertainment. “One of them definitely is not, she says, right now,” Broderick shared with E! News, indicating a possible divergence from the family profession for his teenage daughters. The SeriousFun event, hosted in honor of the late Paul Newman, brought together celebrities to support the organization’s philanthropic work.
Son James Wilkie Follows in Parents’ Footsteps
However, while their daughters appear hesitant, Broderick and Parker’s son, James Wilkie, 22, has shown an inclination towards acting. He recently shared screen time with his father, the star of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, in an episode of the CBS series Elsbeth in February. This on-screen collaboration highlights a contrasting interest in acting between the couple’s son and daughters.
Matthew Broderick Praises On-Set Collaboration with Son
Matthew Broderick enthusiastically described his experience working alongside his son on the set of Elsbeth. “It was great. We had two days together,” he recounted. He fondly mentioned enjoying casual moments between takes, stating, “It was really fun to hang around the craft service table and eat snacks.” Broderick also noted his son’s initial nervousness, adding, “He was nervous but he got over that. We had a great couple of days. It was great.”
