A representative for Greater Manchester Police stated: ‘Alfie Holt, 20, residing at Haven Drive, Droylsden, has been formally charged with assault. His court appearance is scheduled at Manchester Magistrates Court.’
‘This charge is in connection to an incident that transpired at Old Trafford Football Club yesterday.’
This episode occurred at the conclusion of an uneventful match where City’s player Phil Foden was consistently subjected to jeers and taunts from the home supporters.
Following the game, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola voiced his opinion that the derogatory chants directed at the England international’s family demonstrated ‘a lack of class’.

Sections of the Old Trafford crowd repeatedly used offensive language toward Foden’s mother throughout the afternoon.
‘It is a lack of class. However, this is not about Manchester United as a club, it is about the individuals present,’ stated Guardiola.
‘We, as figures in global football – managers, owners, and particularly the players – are heavily exposed to this kind of behavior.’
‘In truth, I struggle to comprehend the mindset of individuals who involve Phil’s mother in their insults. It reflects a deficiency in integrity and class, and they ought to feel ashamed.’
