Pete Wicks Trades Parties for Plants: Reality TV Star Embraces Gardening Hobby

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant and TOWIE personality Pete Wicks has exchanged “nights out for gardening,” embracing a more serene lifestyle after his stint on the popular BBC dance competition. This move to domestic pursuits comes after the reality TV star made headlines earlier this year following reports of a split from Love Island‘s Maura Higgins.

A Budding Gardener: Wicks’ Newfound Passion

Since his separation, public interest has remained high regarding Wicks’ personal life and potential romantic partners. However, the television personality has chosen to transition away from his previously active social life, discovering enjoyment in more tranquil pastimes. In an exclusive conversation, the 37-year-old celebrity discussed his burgeoning gardening hobby, which he admits has become quite demanding.

Teaming up with SMARTY Mobile, the podcast host divulged some of his personal gardening insights, stating: “I’ve recently relocated, and my new home is currently best described as a rainforest. My collection of houseplants is extensive.”

Managing a ‘Rainforest’ at Home

“I’ve actually acquired a guide for each plant I own, detailing their specific watering requirements. I now rely on phone alarms to remind me to water and nourish them. It’s akin to caring for a group of green children – a rather peculiar experience.”

  • Extensive houseplant collection
  • Uses plant-specific care guides
  • Sets alarms for watering and feeding

“There are literally hundreds of plants now; I genuinely feel as though I inhabit a miniature rainforest in the sky at the moment. I have a substantial cactus behind me, but they are truly everywhere. Perhaps I am developing a knack for gardening.”

Green-Fingered and Content

Wicks chuckled, remarking, “That’s quite a mature development for me, becoming somewhat green-fingered. Less socialising and more gardening is my new motto.” Sharing his spacious new residence are his two French Bulldogs, Eric and Peggy, whom he affectionately refers to as his “ideal companions.”

Companionship and Canine Devotion

He elaborated, “In my opinion, it’s about finding the right fit. It’s comparable to seeking partners in life; you aim to find someone compatible with you.”

“I believe a common issue is people selecting specific breeds or types that don’t necessarily align with their lifestyle. Personally, I find dogs superior to people.”

“They consistently have been and always will be because their primary desire is affection. The affection you give them is reciprocated abundantly. It’s remarkable that rescue dogs, in particular, retain their capacity for love despite potential difficult pasts.”

“But with any dog, not just rescues or particular breeds, I adore all dogs.” This insight comes as the reality star recently transformed into the Easter Bunny for his latest collaboration with SMARTY Mobile.

Easter Bunny Duties and ‘Chocflation’ Commentary

Pete appeared as stylish as ever while embodying the whimsical character, complete with signature fluffy brown ears and a matching tail. Maintaining his fashionable image, the TV personality chose a brown suit, worn over a white T-shirt, paired with polished black shoes.

His partnership with the mobile network stems from research indicating widespread British frustration with ‘chocflation’. Eighty-five percent of Britons believe chocolate eggs have diminished in size, despite consumers being prepared to spend an average of £5.70 on branded Easter eggs.

Enthusiastic to participate in distributing eggs, Pete playfully commented: “Was it necessary for me to dress as the Easter Bunny for this? No. But I am genuinely pleased to bring smiles to people’s faces this Easter. Who wouldn’t want a complimentary chocolate egg?”
