Jeremy Maguire on Being an “Old Soul” and Life After Modern Family
Actor Jeremy Maguire, best known for his role as Joe Pritchett in the acclaimed series Modern Family, recently shared insights into his mature perspective in a 2024 exclusive interview. “I’ve often been described as a 30-year-old trapped in a child’s body,” Maguire revealed, reflecting on perceptions of his personality. “People have also called me an old soul, and I tend to agree with that assessment of myself.”
Early Career and Impact of Modern Family
Maguire, born in 2011, began his journey on Modern Family in 2015, two years after the show’s premiere on ABC. He portrayed Joe Pritchett, the son of Gloria and Jay Pritchett. Reflecting on his formative years spent on set, Maguire elaborated on the blurring lines between his on-screen and real life. “Growing up with cameras constantly filming you makes it challenging to differentiate between your television family and your actual relatives,” he explained. “This was particularly difficult for me because I have a deep affection for everyone involved in the show. The conclusion of Modern Family was genuinely upsetting, as it represented the only consistent life I had ever known.”
Venturing Beyond Pritchett Lane
Following the finale of Modern Family, Maguire swiftly transitioned to other projects. In 2021, he secured a role in all 12 episodes of Disney’s reboot of Turner & Hooch. Looking ahead, Maguire is also exploring his passion for writing. “Writing is incredibly therapeutic for me,” he stated. “I often engage in writing poems, short stories, and even preliminary script treatments for projects that I envision pursuing in the future.”
