Sydney Beauty Practitioner Under Investigation for Unauthorised Cosmetic Procedures

New South Wales health authorities are currently investigating an unregistered beauty practitioner in Sydney who is advertising unlicensed Botox injections and “butt lifts” via social media platforms Instagram and Snapchat. The individual, known online as Injector Josh, is under scrutiny for allegedly conducting injectable and invasive cosmetic procedures without proper authorisation.

Public Health Warning Issued by HCCC

The Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) has issued a public health warning regarding the man, who uses the social media handles faisalbasim7 and injectorjosh_. According to the commission, multiple complaints have been lodged against “Injector Josh.”

The HCCC stated that this individual does not possess the necessary qualifications to legally perform skin-penetrating procedures within Australia. Furthermore, he is accused of administering regulated substances, including botulinum toxin (Botox), without the prerequisite credentials.

Details of Unauthorised Procedures

The unregistered practitioner reportedly operated across various beauty clinics in Sydney. He is alleged to have performed a range of invasive cosmetic treatments on numerous clients. These procedures include:

  • Anti-wrinkle injections
  • Dermal filler injections
  • Thread-based facelifts (PDO facelifts)
  • Buttock augmentation (“butt lifts”)

Concerns Over Public Health Risks

The public health warning emphasises the HCCC’s concern that this individual is jeopardising public health. By carrying out high-risk procedures without proper qualifications, he may be misleading individuals into believing his services are legally sanctioned.

In January, three women required hospitalisation after receiving unregulated anti-wrinkle injections in a domestic setting. Additionally, in October, clients of Fresh Cosmetic Clinic were advised to undergo testing for blood-borne viruses.
