Kyle Walker’s Serie A Stint at AC Milan Faces Setbacks Amid Team Tensions
- Kyle Walker experiencing challenging period in Italy after initial positive spell in Serie A.
- Manchester City loanee’s discontent evident as he criticizes Portuguese teammate during match.
- Insight into team dynamics: Walker’s frustration highlights internal pressures at AC Milan.
Defender Kyle Walker is reportedly encountering a tough phase at AC Milan, his loan club, following an encouraging inception in Serie A. The Manchester City player was reportedly involved in a heated discussion with teammate Joao Felix, showcasing rising tensions amidst a disappointing season for the Italian giants. During a recent match, Walker’s exasperation became visible as he seemingly rebuked Felix for failing to pass the ball, underscoring potential rifts within the Milan squad.
Walker’s Frustration Boils Over On The Pitch
Down 2-0 at halftime against Napoli, Walker was observed confronting Felix, allegedly criticizing the Portuguese forward’s reluctance to distribute possession.
As the Milan team returned to the field for the second half, the England international was purportedly overheard telling Felix, “Pass the ball, we are not Messi,” indicating Walker’s demand for more team-oriented play and less individualistic approach.
Tactical Changes Fail to Reverse Milan’s Fortunes
Walker’s remarks seemingly went unheeded, as Felix was substituted just ten minutes into the second half. Manager Sergio Conceicao, facing increasing scrutiny, attempted to shake up the game with tactical adjustments.
However, these modifications proved ineffective in shifting the momentum, ultimately resulting in Milan succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against Napoli.
Initial Promise Fades for Walker in Milan
Walker, aged 34, initially made a strong impact in Italy, achieving three undefeated games in his first three appearances. He contributed to a defense that conceded only two goals during this period.

Sempre Milan gave Walker a 4.5 rating for his performance against Napoli
Felix has not scored in 10 appearances for Rossoneri after his debut goal
Nevertheless, his spell in Milan, initially sought as respite from personal issues back in the UK, has since deteriorated. He was substituted at halftime during a match against Verona and was relegated to the bench for a game against Lazio last month.
In the Napoli game, Walker was again substituted, this time in the 79th minute. Milan-based media outlet Sempre Milan gave his performance a rating of 4.5 out of 10.
According to Sempre Milan’s assessment: ‘The entire defense underperformed, but he was notably culpable on the second goal, misjudging Buongiorno’s run and consequently playing Lukaku onside despite Milan’s high defensive line. A significant error for a seasoned player. He did initiate a couple of promising forward runs but his crosses lacked precision.’
Personal Life Amidst Professional Challenges
While Walker faced struggles on the pitch in Naples, his wife, Annie Kilner, spent Mother’s Day in Dubai alongside their four children.
The 33-year-old is reportedly in the process of mending her relationship with Walker, 34, following a period of personal turbulence.
The couple is reportedly committed to resolving their issues, particularly with Walker’s temporary move to AC Milan while Annie and their children remain in Cheshire.
Annie and Kyle were recently seen together in Cheshire, enjoying a public outing after he returned to the UK from Milan.
He appeared to be in good spirits, giving a thumbs-up while refueling his car at a local gas station, accompanied by Annie in the backseat.

Walker’s loan to AC Milan commenced in January, and he reportedly makes regular trips back to see his family.
Their recent public appearance followed reports of Annie’s displeasure over Kyle’s night out with two models, which led to her being seen without her wedding ring.
However, she later created confusion among fans by posting an Instagram picture showcasing a prominent ‘engagement’ ring, which was related to a new business venture.
Felix’s Struggles Mirror Milan’s Season
Felix also joined Milan on loan in January from Chelsea. He scored in his debut match but has since been unable to score in his subsequent 10 appearances for the club.
AC Milan, a team with a rich history as seven-time European champions, are currently struggling in Serie A, positioned ninth in the league standings, a significant 20 points behind leaders Inter.
They are scheduled to play against their city rivals, Inter, in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Wednesday. This upcoming derby represents a chance for the Rossoneri, including Walker and Felix, to revitalize their season and seek redemption.
