Megyn Kelly Accuses Tech Reporter Kara Swisher of Being a “Bad Person” in Heated Media Feud
In a public spat between prominent media personalities, Megyn Kelly has strongly criticized liberal tech journalist Kara Swisher, labeling her a “bad person.” The denouncement follows Swisher’s initial remarks where she described Kelly as a “rage machine,” igniting a feud that has escalated into personal attacks and the recounting of a painful exchange surrounding Kelly’s sister’s death.
Swisher’s Initial “Rage Machine” Accusation
The conflict began when Kara Swisher, during an episode of her podcast “Pivot with Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway,” referred to Kelly as a “rage machine.”
“She has a little act that she takes on the road and screams at women – a lot of women,” Swisher commented about her former acquaintance. Swisher then questioned, “What is wrong with her?” in a rhetorical manner.
Kelly’s Sharp Retort and Personal Attack
Kelly responded to Swisher’s comments on her own show, stating, “What is wrong is I see you and I hear you and I see how nasty you are to everybody.”
Kelly further characterized Swisher as a “very tough, ballsy, open lesbian woman,” and asserted that the journalist is “literally known for like, walking away with people’s balls.”
Recounting a Painful Exchange After Sister’s Death
Adding a deeply personal dimension to the ongoing media clash, Kelly detailed Swisher’s reaction when she had to cancel a scheduled interview due to the sudden passing of her sister, Suzanne Crossley, in 2022.
Kelly explained that she was invited to Swisher’s program to discuss her viewpoints on the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines. However, just days before the planned interview, Crossley tragically suffered an unexpected heart attack and died at the age of 58.

Misunderstanding and Perceived Lack of Empathy
Kelly recounted informing Swisher’s team about the cancellation. She stated her assistant texted Swisher’s counterpart, “MK has had something personal come up and she’s not going to be able to make it.”
“This was five days in advance,” Kelly clarified, “but I knew I wasn’t going to be doing anybody’s podcast.”
According to Kelly, Swisher herself responded, “Oh that sounds like a good idea and I certainly hope she’ll stay off X in the meantime.”
Kelly interpreted this response as dismissive and lacking empathy. “Her instinct was to question like why I was doing it, like she wasn’t really accepting that it was a personal thing that happened to me,” Kelly expressed.
She continued, “She thought I was trying to avoid her because I was on X saying controversial things that she was objecting to and that I wasn’t, you know, strong enough to go on Kara Swisher’s podcast. Again, like somebody who doesn’t f***ing know me at all, right? Like I’m afraid of having somebody ask me tough questions or mixing it up.”
“Only Joking” Claim After Learning of Sister’s Death
Kelly further claimed that after her assistant clarified the reason for cancellation, stating, “actually her sister died,” Swisher attempted to downplay her initial reaction as a joke.
“She writes back ‘Oh well I was only joking. I was only joking, you know, sorry,'” Kelly recounted.
“I’m sorry but she’s a bad person!” Kelly asserted. “That s***, you’re a bad person.”

Continuing Disagreement and Personal Animosity
“She tries to cover her own ass because she knows she now made herself look terrible,” Kelly stated.
“And from that point forward, all she’s done is rip on me, and frankly vice-versa,” she added. “I mean, I just see her very differently now, I think she’s a bad person.”
Kelly also mentioned that Swisher did not offer any condolences following her sister’s death.
Kelly’s Emotional Announcement of Sister’s Passing
In contrast to Swisher’s perceived reaction, Kelly became visibly emotional when informing her audience about her sister’s unexpected passing.
“I’ve got to tell you that something really sad happened in my family over the weekend,” Kelly shared, her voice breaking with emotion at the start of her show.
“My sister died. She was 58. Her name was Suzanne Crossley. And she died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack.”
Kelly further explained, “She hasn’t been in very good health for the last couple of years. It’s been one problem after the other. It was sudden and it was unexpected.”

Finding Solace in Work Amid Grief
The broadcaster recounted rushing to New York to be with her family after learning of her sister’s heart attack. She was with her mother Linda, brother Paul, and nephew Brian when Crossley passed.
Kelly paused, becoming emotional again, and described the experience as “really hard and emotional.”
She explained her decision to continue recording her podcast, stating that work is “cathartic” for her.
“I said to myself, do I come back for Monday’s show? Do I not? And for me, it’s better to be here,” she said, elaborating:
“It’s more cathartic to work, it gave me a couple of hours where I could take my mind off of it and do my show and talk about the stuff that matters.”
Kelly concluded by reflecting on her sister’s death as “a reminder to hug the people you love – how short and tenuous life is and how important it is to stay close to the people you love.”
“We can’t all be perfect on that front but we can make a little effort day by day to shoot a text or return a call.”
