Jason Momoa Spotted in New York City After “Minecraft Movie” Promotion
Actor Jason Momoa was seen in New York City displaying a seemingly displeased expression, just hours after a busy day promoting his upcoming film, A Minecraft Movie. The Dune star was photographed in Manhattan’s Soho district following a dinner at Il Buco, a well-known Italian eatery. His relaxed attire was a stark contrast to his earlier appearance, as he loaded items into his vehicle.
Casual Attire and Apparent Grumpiness at Il Buco
Eyewitnesses reported that Momoa, 45, appeared to be in a ‘grumpy’ mood and was heard ‘growling’ as he exited the restaurant with a group. His informal outfit included a purple tank top and an unconventional bowler hat, a departure from the stylish suits he sported earlier in the day.
Momoa complemented the simple top with dark blue selvedge jeans, rolled at the cuffs, and dark brown boots. He also sported a thick brown band, possibly adorned with Native American-inspired designs.
The actor was observed conversing with two men while placing something in his car trunk. Earlier in the day, he was seen in the same outfit, but without the bowler hat.
During his daytime appearance, he layered a mauve shirt jacket over the tank top and wore distinctive white amber-tinted eyeglasses.
“Dune Messiah” Return Confirmed
Earlier that morning, during an interview on the Today Show, Momoa officially confirmed his return as Duncan Idaho in the forthcoming Dune Messiah film. This announcement comes despite his character’s demise in the original Dune movie.
The sequel, set to feature Timothée Chalamet and directed once again by Denis Villeneuve, is expected to explore darker and more surprising narrative paths. These directions might be unexpected for audiences familiar only with the recent film adaptations or David Lynch’s 1984 version.
Teasing Duncan Idaho’s Resurrection
In conversation with Today Show host Craig Melvin, it was mentioned that Duncan Idaho is resurrected in the second book, Dune Messiah, despite his death in Frank Herbert’s initial Dune novel from 1965.
‘Well, I’m not sure if I’m going to get in trouble or not,’ Momoa responded with hesitation. ‘But it’s the same thing like Game Of Thrones, you know what I mean? If you didn’t read the books, it’s not my fault, right?’
After Melvin concurred, Momoa elaborated, ‘Yeah, I’m going to be coming back.’ He added that his character was “making a comeback,” and playfully suggested Melvin had put him “in trouble.”
While Duncan Idaho perished in the first film and book, his character is indeed resurrected in Dune Messiah. The character continued to appear in subsequent, more fantastical sequels, although Villeneuve has indicated his current interest is limited to adapting the series through the second book.
Promoting “A Minecraft Movie”
Earlier on Monday, Momoa made appearances at the Today Show sporting a vibrant hot pink suit. He paired the suit with a white shirt worn without a tie, further relaxing the look with pink socks and beige sandals.
Despite hinting at his Dune return, his primary purpose was promoting A Minecraft Movie, his new action-comedy.
A Minecraft Movie, co-starring Jack Black and Danielle Brooks, follows a group of underdogs who are transported through a portal into the Overworld, the block-based realm of the Minecraft game.
There, they embark on an adventure after encountering Steve (Black), a master craftsman who has resided in the Overworld for years.
London Premiere of “Minecraft Movie”
On Sunday, Momoa attended the world premiere of A Minecraft Movie in London.
The actor, who donned a striking purple velvet suit with matching Chelsea boots, was accompanied by his girlfriend, Adria Arjona, known for her role in Hit Man, who looked stunning in a low-cut lavender gown.
A Minecraft Movie is scheduled for theatrical release on April 4.
