INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – A 7-year-old girl from Nevada tragically died after being struck by a falling rock at Diamond Peak Ski Resort on Saturday, officials have confirmed. The incident occurred at the popular Lake Tahoe area ski destination, prompting an immediate emergency response.

Accident Details and Identification of Victim

Adelyn Grimes, a resident of Reno, Nevada, was identified as the child who passed away following the unfortunate event at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has officially ruled the manner of death as accidental, according to a statement released to KCRA, a Sacramento-based NBC affiliate.

Resort Expresses Condolences

Diamond Peak Ski Resort released a statement expressing deep sorrow and sympathy. “Diamond Peak Ski Resort extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the young girl involved in this tragic accident,” the statement read.

Emergency Response and Medical Efforts

The ski resort detailed the timeline of the emergency response, stating that medical services were summoned at approximately 3:38 p.m. on Saturday. Ski patrol personnel were promptly dispatched to the scene and administered immediate first aid. Assistance was also provided by the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, who arrived to offer further support.

Despite Best Efforts, Child Succumbs to Injuries

“Despite the emergency medical team’s exhaustive efforts, the child tragically succumbed to her injuries,” the Diamond Peak Ski Resort stated. The resort is located northeast of Lake Tahoe, on the Nevada side.

Sheriff’s Office Investigation and Statement

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident. In their official statement, they described the event as a “tragic accident.”

No Foul Play Suspected

Authorities have confirmed that their initial findings indicate no foul play was involved in the incident. “There was no foul play involved, and the Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to all those affected by this heartbreaking loss,” the statement from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office concluded.
