World Darts Championship Prize Money Doubled to £1 Million in Historic Increase
In a significant boost for professional darts, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) has announced a substantial rise in prize money, offering Luke Littler even greater incentive to defend his World Darts Championship title. The rising star, Littler, previously secured £500,000 after his victory over Michael van Gerwen in the latest final, but future champions will now compete for a staggering £1 million prize starting in 2026.
Record Prize Fund for Expanded World Championship
The PDC has officially confirmed that the forthcoming World Darts Championship will award £1 million to the winner, marking a key element of a broader financial expansion. A larger field of 128 players will participate in the competition, vying for a total prize fund of £5 million. Across all PDC events in 2026, over £25 million will be distributed, representing an unprecedented £7 million surge from the projected 2025 figures.
Premier League and Other Tournaments See Prize Money Increases
The Premier League Darts champion will also benefit from increased winnings, set to receive £350,000 from an overall prize pool of £1.25 million. Furthermore, prize money will be augmented at other prestigious events including the World Grand Prix, Players Championship Finals, European Championship, and UK Open.
- World Grand Prix: Increased prize fund.
- Players Championship Finals: Increased prize fund.
- European Championship: Increased prize fund.
- UK Open: Increased prize fund.
Each of these four tournaments will now feature a £750,000 prize fund. The World Cup of Darts and World Series of Darts will also see prize increases, each adding £50,000 to their respective total prize pots.

Player Perspective on Increased Winnings
Littler commented, “I’ve not been formally informed, but it’s been a recurring topic for several years. The £500,000 prize has remained unchanged for many years, and I believe this is the next crucial step forward for us players.”
“Naturally, the winner would immediately ascend to number one in the PDC Order of Merit. Whether it happens this year or next year, I am virtually certain it is imminent.”
