RuneScape: Dragonwilds Announced as Open-World Survival Adventure

Jagex has announced RuneScape: Dragonwilds, an upcoming open-world survival game set within the well-known RuneScape universe. This new title is scheduled to debut in Steam Early Access in the near future, offering players a fresh perspective on the long-established fantasy world.

Explore Ashenfall and Master Survival

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Dragonwilds is situated on the lost continent of Ashenfall. Players, whether venturing solo or with up to three companions, are challenged to uncover ancient mysteries, combat familiar RuneScape enemies, and, crucially, endure the harsh environment. A comprehensive crafting system will enable base construction, allowing players to create new equipment and magical spells to aid in their survival.

Teaser Videos and Developer Insights Unveiled

To date, Jagex has released a pair of concise teaser videos showcasing the game’s environments and brief glimpses of gameplay. A developer Q&A session has also provided further details regarding what Dragonwilds will offer. This informative session is embedded below for your viewing.

Open-World Focus with Classic RuneScape Elements

Jagex emphasizes that Dragonwilds is designed as a traditional open-world experience, distinct from a massively multiplayer online game (MMO). The game will incorporate quests, recognizable non-player characters (NPCs), classic RuneScape skills, and, true to its subtitle, a significant number of dragons. Screenshots of RuneScape: Dragonwilds are available in the gallery below.

Steam Early Access Launch This Spring

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is set to launch on Steam Early Access this Spring, inviting players to embark on a new survival adventure within the expansive RuneScape world.
