Aubrey Plaza Mourns Husband Jeff Baena Following трагический уход
Visibly bereaved actress Aubrey Plaza has maintained a discreet presence in Los Angeles recently, as she mourns the loss of her husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena. The somber sighting follows the revelation of their separation months prior to Baena’s passing.
Actress Seen in Los Angeles Amidst траур
Shielding her face with large sunglasses, the 40-year-old performer was seen wearing a hoodie, seemingly seeking solace from the cool weather and public attention.
This public appearance occurred days after reports surfaced detailing Plaza and Baena’s private separation. The couple reportedly parted ways four months before Baena’s shocking death by suicide at age 47.
Details Emerge from Autopsy Report
According to an autopsy report from the LA County Medical Examiner, obtained by DailyMail.com, the separation between the actress and director transpired in September of the previous year. At the time of Baena’s body’s discovery on January 3, Plaza was reportedly residing in New York.
The report further indicated that the ‘Life After Beth’ director experienced ‘marital difficulties’ in the months leading up to his death, and he had been seeking professional therapy to address these challenges.
Documents from an investigator noted that Plaza, whose name was redacted in the official report, had communicated with Baena the evening before his passing.
Concerns for Wellbeing Preceded Death
Tragically, the report also unveiled that Plaza had previously expressed concern for her estranged husband’s wellbeing.
The documents stated, ‘In October 2024, Baena made concerning remarks to [Plaza] which prompted her to contact a friend to conduct a welfare check. Following this incident, Baena commenced therapy sessions.’
Toxicology analysis from the medical examiner’s report determined that Baena had no alcohol or illicit substances in his system at the time of his death.
The report further noted that Plaza was aware of her husband being alive on the morning of January 3, as he had sent her a text message.
Discovery of Baena’s Body
The report detailed the discovery of Baena’s body by a dog walker who noticed unusually loud music emanating from his residence.
After receiving no response to her calls, the dog walker entered the home and found his body.
Statement from Plaza’s Representative
In a statement released to DailyMail.com, a representative for Plaza conveyed, ‘This is an unimaginable tragedy. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered support. We kindly request privacy during this incredibly difficult time.’
Jeff Baena’s Career Highlights
Baena, a film school graduate of New York University, gained invaluable early career experience working as a production assistant for acclaimed director Robert Zemeckis and as an assistant editor for David O. Russell.
His breakthrough moment arrived when he co-authored the screenplay for Russell’s 2004 cult classic existential comedy, ‘I Heart Huckabees’.
Directorial Debut and Collaborations with Plaza
A decade later, Baena transitioned to directing with his 2014 debut, the romantic horror-comedy ‘Life After Beth,’ which starred Plaza.
The pair collaborated again on 2016’s ‘Joshy’ and 2017’s ‘The Little Hours,’ the latter of which Plaza also produced.
Baena frequently collaborated with actress Alison Brie, who appeared in ‘The Little Hours’ and starred in and co-wrote his final two films: the psychological drama ‘Horse Girl’ (2020) and the dark comedy thriller ‘Spin Me Round’ (2022).
Relationship and Marriage
Plaza and Baena’s relationship began in 2011. In 2017, Plaza mentioned in an interview that their shared ‘obsession’ with cinema fostered a strong bond, leading to both creative and romantic partnerships.
She confirmed in 2021 their private marriage, which had occurred a year prior. While promoting ‘Spin Me Round,’ in which she had a supporting role, she referred to Baena as her ‘darling husband’ on Instagram.
Public Appearances Following Baena’s Death
Following Baena’s devastating passing, Plaza has taken tentative steps back into public life.
Last month, the actress made her first public appearance since Baena’s death at Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special, where she introduced musical performers Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard.
Subtle Tribute to Late Husband
During her SNL appearance, Plaza subtly honored her late husband by wearing a tie-dye shirt. This was a poignant reference to Baena’s interest in tie-dye and their intimate wedding, where they wore matching tie-dye pajamas.
